Any kind souls here willing to help me repair my 1979 Bally KISS machine over the phone or local in North Jersey? I really miss playing it, been out of work for a few years and can't afford to pay someone to fix it. The problem is narrowed down to not getting the right voltage to start up. I do own a voltage meter, but the problem is a bit out of my league.
Thanks!!

Got any pictures of the MPU or the power supply??

The MPU is the top left board in the head of the machine and the power supply board is either underneath the playfield OR in the bottom right corner of the head of the machine.

I might be able to help you ID it.......

I recommend getting in touch with the staff at Pinball Wizard arcade in Pelham, NH. They run a repair biz as well as their arcade (which houses 70+ pins in fantastic working order), and they have a working KISS machine in their lineup. There's a good chance someone there might be able to help you out.

Can you be a little more specific on your location? North Jersey is still a big place. I might be able to point you in the right direction if you were in my area. Otherwise I suggest that you take some voltage measurements and then post over on the newsgroup rec.games.pinball. What makes you think it is a low voltage? Voltage issues on machines of this era are typically due to a bad capacitor on the power supply. This is a trivial repair.

The problem is likely not out of your league. If you suspect the power supply Kiss uses a AS-2518-49 power supply. You can find the values at the testpoints on Pinwiki HERE (http://www.pinwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Bally/Stern#Rectifier_Board_Test_Point_Values) (a very good guide to repairing your game).

Remember to set your meter to DC for all test points but TP4. The rectifier board is located in the right lower corner of your back box. The test points are labeled on the board. If you can measure those and post the values I can help you through it. (sorry I am not local to you)
