Does anyone know where this controller is from? [Archive]

Hi, a little while back at a thrift shop, I found this NES controller (pic attached). It appears to have some sort of party theme with a year around the buttons that looks like 1993, although it is slightly worn off. Also, there is what looks like some sort of compass on the d-pad. On the back it reads:

Nintendo
Controller
---------
Model No.: NES-004
Made in Japan

Does anyone know where this is from? I have been wondering about its origin for quite some time now.

It's a standard NES controller with one of the stickers from an issue of Nintendo Power. I actually put one on one of my controllers. They had some for SNES controllers too. Unfortunetly, they tend to wear off easily and they aren't so easy to get off if you want to remove them.

HOLY CRAP! I have that same sticker on my NES controller, i am not even sure where i got them, when i was young i left my NES at my grandmother's house and when i came back she had put this sticker on one of the controllers, pretty cool i guess lol

I also gratuated in 93 and I still don't feel it is as long ago as it was.
