You really need pics for a rare game around here. Especially if your new.

Spelling the title of the game correctly and using correct grammar and punctuation will also bring in more interested buyers.

Those are most definitely a plus.

Yeah good luck with that on eBay, guy. I'll give you $50 if it's cart only.
Also, pics do a lot to help the credibility of a newbie with 16 posts. ;)

Can you confirm that it wasn't rental only?

I think everyone has had a chance to give some advice and make their points. Let's give the OP a chance to attempt his sale without further interruption.
Can you confirm that it wasn't rental only?
If you really want to go there, the burden of proof is on you to confirm it was rental only. However, I don't want to see that debate in this thread.

You only have my memory to go on but I am positive I saw a copy of the game at an EB Games in the Pittsburgh Airport. I had no idea at the time what it would be worth and I kick myself constantly for not snagging it when I had the chance.

As many collectors know, this gem was only released to the rental market. That, coupled with the late release of the title makes this one of the rarest officially released cartridges. So is it really worth your 200 dollars?
The answer is , unless you're a die hard collector like myself, probably not. The graphics are quite good considering the hardware capabilities. However, that's where the nice things end. The gameplay is rather bizarre, as you are constantly switching between Barney and Fred in an attempt to reach the end of the level. At one point I even had to change characters while jumping.
Overall the difficulty of this game isn't very high, though it is challenging because of the awkward controls. Play for about a minute and you'll quickly find out that they've doubled up button functionality. For example, to jump, you would press the jump button. But if you need to grab onto a ledge, then you have to release A and press it again while holding the UP arrow. All before you land. This maneuver takes some getting use to, but it is essential in mastering the gameplay.
There are lots of different game modes, which is both a curse and a blessing. It certainly adds variety by having multiple styles of gaming. For example, the hockey arena is a nice bonus stage, and the surfing stage is rather neat, (though full of its own annoyances). The downside to having such a variety is that none of them are above average.
So what does this all add up to? A moderately difficult game for all the wrong reasons. Chances are you'll be bragging about owning this game, not playing it.

He's going on decade long hearsay. He has absolutely no proof. (As is this great_gir chap) If it's any consolation, I have/had every NES game as well and I say it's never been proven. :P
Regardless, the game at hand is indeed what the OP said he's offering for sale. Make an offer, folks.

Doesn't really matter to me honestly. Fact is the game is ridiculously rare and calling it "rental only" is part of the mythos, not really part of what makes it valuable (IMO given the game is ridiculously rare on its own without needing a boost from Jesus having licked it and Moses using the manual as a snot rag).

Wouldn't someone at DP remember this being sold at Toys-R-Us or other stores if it was released in retail stores? I am no expert on this title, but I am wondering if anyone here(on DP) ever saw it for sale at Toys-R-Us or Kay Bee Toys??? If no one here can ever remember buying it or even seeing it for sale, then I would guess it probably never got an official retail release.
