View Full Version : Getting older and changing genre interests...

I'm in my early/mid 20s now, and I have to say that a lot of games really don't spark my interest anymore.

I never cared much for first person shooters (loved DOOM / DOOM II, and a few others...back in early days),

and I've never understood how hundreds upon hundreds of 'tournament fighting' games are out there and still successful, as they're overdid and IMO all you need are STREET FIGHTER 2: TOURNAMENT EDITION, KILLER INSTINCT...and maybe MORTAL KOMBAT 2 even though I never liked that (by the time this came out, the genre was already at a dead-end. KI offered those 'combos' which was cool).

Anyways...now, I look through video game mags and things seem so stupid. RPG's seem to be one of the only interesting things out there. So many games are coming out, and it's like a big blur of 'blah'. I like adventure games best (like Zelda series, though why is Link now this girly looking little boy?), action games (like Contra Corps (?) and Castlevania IV), and Sports (EA games are all you need, except for Madden series which I always though was kinda weak).

Just seems like there's a ton of games without much substance behind them.

Hell(o)...even the Mega Man series has lost my interest for the most part! The first three NES games were GOD, 4th was quirky in play, 5 was excellent and so was 6. I liked X1 quite a bit, but X2 and on don't seem to do much for me. Purchased Megaman Zero for GBA and that is the best MM game since X1!

Now there's this Battle Network Transmission stuff, and previews scare me :(

MM series is my all-time fav...but I think I've drawn the line to the ORIGINAL series and the X-SERIES....unless of course a new series is in the same vein and nothing more.
