During an interview with PlayStation Blog (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/07/15/hideo-kojima-talks-metal-gear-solid-hd-collection-peace-walker-hd-ps-vita/), Metal Gear mogul and transfarring (http://www.joystiq.com/tag/transfarring) technorati Hideo Kojima (http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Hideo-Kojima) dropped a crucial truth-bomb about the future of Snatcher (http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Snatcher), his cyberpunk cult-classic.

With L.A. Noire (http://www.joystiq.com/game/LA-Noire)'s brain-bustingly successful existence as an adventure game, and with Deus Ex: Human Revolution (http://www.joystiq.com/game/Deus-Ex-Human-Revolution) bringing cyberpunk back into the limelight, Kojima was asked whether or not he thinks the world is ready for another Snatcher. "I would love to do something like Snatcher," he said, "but I do not have the time or the means to do so. But if anyone else would like to develop it, I would love it."

It's sad to hear that the series' progenitor won't be returning to Neo Kobe City anytime soon, but at least die-hard Snatcher fans (Snatchies, we call ourselves) can look forward to a radio drama based on the game (http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/08/kojima-announces-snatcher-inspired-radio-drama-for-real-this-ti/). What do you think? Should Snatcher be handed off to another developer, or left as-is?View Poll (http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/16/kojima-on-snatcher-if-anyone-else-would-like-to-develop-it-i/#poll66471)

That's kind of a bummer, but it's also nice to know Kojima even remembers Snatcher at this point.

Snatcher is, like, one of my top 3 favorite games of all time, so I'd buy anything related to it that even gets released. When the initial screenshots for MGS4 showed the Metal Gear MkII I just about peed my pants. He's kind of tied the Snatcher universe into the whole Metal Gear Solid Canon, actually. Dr. Modnar is referred to several times in MGS4, and the Snatcher epidemic is listed in the timeline you can download on PSN that's an addendum to MGS4.

I just hope to God that if something does get put into production that it doesn't get overly Westernized and turned into a God of War clone like Castlevania: LOS was.

No one cares about Snatcher outside of Japan (it's niche for a reason). I don't even think they still care inside Japan. It's like his Shenmue (if you count Policenauts), enjoy them both, cause you'll never see another one. If we can't even get a downloadable version of either (Policenauts especially, after multiple petitions) that speaks volumes.

They are great games that never made much money. Personally I think Policenauts was everything a game should have been from that awkward FMV era.

Let him write the outline and story, and give it to a dev that cares.
