I've found myself in a precarious financial situation. I may have to sell something(s) I value to get out of it. Depends on how some things play out over the next few weeks.

Haven't been much of a collector the past 5-6 years. Still enjoy what I have, but once I got to the point that I wasn't adding anything new to my collection from the wild, I stopped acquiring and started enjoying what I had found. So I've lost touch with the financial side of collecting. Really have no clue where values are at for anything.

I do have a Grey NWC cart. It is in good/vg condition. Some wear on the label. But fully intact. Just trying to get a ballpark figure on where there are at value wise. See if selling is even worth thinking about.

I've owned the cart for 9 years now and do not want to part with it at all, but If I have to...

Have any been sold recently? Anybody know the details of recent sales? Any help appreciated.

Mike

I don't know how much that cart is worth, and sorry to hear about your situation. But if you can sell a material object to get you out of dire straits, i'd say you're pretty lucky, and to do it every time without hesitation.

It's just a piece of plastic.

Im definately no expert on nes games but I'd say around $4000.

If I were you I wouldnt expect to get over $5000 for it and I wouldn't sell it for less than $3000.

I can't give any accurate estimates in value, but these things don't exactly come wandering through very often.

Good luck on the sale and I hope whatever situation is causing you to sell it off gets resolved well!

Put it on ebay. You'll get right around $6500++ for it if it's in solid shape.

I sold my NWC grey a year and a half ago for $6,500, similar condition to the one you describe.

As BF said, eBay it, BIN/BO. You may need to be patient with offers - it took 2 weeks to get the offer we accepted and you will get A LOT of douchebag offers in the meantime - so I'd suggest listing it now, set no auto accept prices and just field offers. Start it at $8k-$10k and if you get an acceptable offer, you hold off pulling the trigger unless you really need to. If the offer expires before it comes to the point where you definitely have to sell it and you find you need to, message the bidder and tell them to resubmit the offer (say it's $6000, tell them to offer $6000.01) and you will accept.

Good luck!

No but seriously, port's right. eBay's a good bet, but be aware they'll take a LARGE chunk of the money on fees. Probably 25%.

Wow, I figured this was $3k-$5k and I'd pay $2k. Crazy. When will we run out of buyers at this $6k price point?

A Mint one came up for sale on NA. You might have a decent price point to compare to if it sells, though I'd expect less for your copy based on condition.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to do everything I can to avoid selling it. I've been collecting about 12 years now. I've yet to sell off a piece of my collection, hate to start now, but atleast the option is there if i need it.

Just found the "whats it worth" forum. I guess this could've gone there. Oops. Like I said, haven't been around for awhile...

If you do have to sell some stuff maybe you could sell items that would be easier to buy back if you ever regretted it. It will be very difficult for you to ever buy another NWC.

But I digress, paying bills, saving money etc, is much more important than pieces of plastic. I just hope you are happy with whatever choice you make.

I agree 'Asuka 120%' here. If you're serious about your collection, but just need money, I would sell basically every other game before this one because it would be hell to attempt to reacquire. People may hate me for saying this, but if I was forced to sell my games I would sell them in reverse order of rarity (commons first, then all the way up to the rarest). That way if my fortunes turned and I didn't have to continue selling, I'd still have all my rares and wouldn't have to worry about getting them back at even higher prices in the future.

However, if you really don't care and just want to give it to someone that wants it really bad, I think the BIN/BO is the way to go. You'll probably get at least 6k out of it, and that's a nice chunk of change.

The other line of this story goes that if you do sell this now instead of your less expensive games, you get the following benefits:

1. It's a lot less work for the sale right now to get the money you need
2. It's a lot less work for reacquiring later. Sure the game might be more expensive later, but you only have to buy the ONE game, even if its exceptionally rare.

Sure it might cost you more money later. It comes down to your money vs. time tradeoff.
