Recently picked up a collection and in there was a boxed wireless gun for the original NES system. It's made by PLACO and haven't been able to find a whole lot about it. It's called the Video Shooter. Found some pics online but not a lot on the rarity or quality. I don't think its ever been used and it looks to have all the manuals. Saw some comments comparing it to one for the Sega systems on looks so not sure if they made another for that console. If anyone has any info it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Chuck

Not rare, just uncommon, and like most wireless devices of that era, most found are incomplete (missing IR sensor, battery cover) or have died due to battery rot.

No idea about value, I'd venture a guess < $10.

There are lots of third party controllers for the NES (AVGN even did a review on some of the more common ones). I'd put it at fairly rare (maybe a 4 or 5 on the rarity guide) and probably not worth much, $4 - $8.

So how does this gun work? Would it work with a modern HDTV, where a lightgun won't?

No. It looks like it still works the same way as the regular Zapper.

Neat find. It does look like the SMS zapper just a little.

I paid $18 from Drexel's store for one exactly in the condition that Frankie linked. It's an uncommon accessory.

its still a light gun even though its cordless, so definitely not.

I also sold a NIB one in a box that was in worse condition as the one pictured for a staggering $10.

Thanks all. That is exactly the one. Doesn't appear to have ever been used. Still has all the manuals and the pieces are still bagged. May just add this to the collection. Thought it was cool and monetary value is too low to beat the coolness value of it. Picked up a TI 99/4A in the same lot. I know that has about the same value. I've seen manuals sell for more than the actual system. My original TI still sits in a box under my bed at my mom's house. Right next to my Atari 2600.
