I am currently doing an internship in Paris until December, and I have been really salivating over Ocarina of Time 3D. I am almost at the point that I want to buy a 3DS just to play it, but since I already own a DS back in the US, it might be a bit of a wasted purchase. I can legitimize it a bit if I buy some sort of awesome limited edition.
Does anybody know of any Europe only systems? Are there are Europe only DS/3DS games that I should pick up while I am here?
Thanks!

Well..If you regularly go to Europe for Family/Work or whatever then it might be alright looking for a special edition there. However the 3DS is region locked so if that isan't the case your going to end up importing all your games or just buying an NTSC version of the console eventually.

Ugh, hat is brutal and quashes any hopes that I had.
Is there a good reason why it is region-locked?

A GOOD reason, no. Nintendo seems to think that breaking region locks and piracy go hand in hand. Not a day goes by wherein I don't wish the Wii was region-free.

Further keeping in line with their online region locked strategy? This is the first time that handheld carts have been regioned (PSP did movies, but thats different) as far as i'm aware.
Honestly though, since there are so few games right now, I don't think that anything has dropped that you'd be missing out on, other than the fancy edition of Ocarina of Time. But you're buying goodies there, not the game.

It's truly remarkable how the always-effective business strategy of "because we can" doesn't work when we want it to (see Capcom) and works when we don't want it to (see Nintendo).

Possibly one reason is because 3DS is the first portable with parental controls, including ratings enforcement (I think).
Not to say GOOD reason, just A reason. :P
