Double Dragon II: The Revenge, the old Technos Japan beat-em-up from 1988, is being revived for a 3D remake on Xbox Live Arcade. Now known as Double Dragon II: Wander of the Dragons, the game is based on the arcade version, not the reworked NES one, and is being developed by Barunson Interactive for release this September.

I read about this earlier and while I'll be picking this up it's ultimately just another reminder of how much I wish they would bring the first one back to XBLA so I can finally purchase it and stop playing the demo.

I think it looks pretty bad. There doesn't appear to be any grappling moves at all, and the music sounds cheesy compared to the original. It looks like a dumbed down, low rent Dynamite Cop.

What the....this is not the DD2 that I remember! First of all, this looks like Fighting Force. This looks like an interpretation of DD2 by someone who's never played the original. The look is strange; it's lost that somewhat 'punk' motif. The music is very curious and the move list appears to be pretty small...but maybe the finished product will change that.
I've been a DD2 fan since it first appeared and it's easily my favorite game out of the whole series. In fact, I'd probably place it in my top 5 all time favorite games. I still play it on MAME on a regular basis and occasionally pop in the PC Engine version too, so it really saddens me to see it reduced down to something that looks like indie Steam shovelware. We got an awesome GBA remake a number of years back, so why not try and capture lightning in a bottle again?

Too bad Game Room died. An emulated version of the original was slated for the service before it died.

After watching the video I'm getting the feeling that this will be like Turtles in Time Reshelled and how garbage that game was in comparison to the original. Well. Not quite as bad as Turtles in Time Reshelled.

Stick with Double Dragon Extreme.
It's free and awesome.

So will this beat out Double Dragon III Arcade for "Worst Double Dragon game ever"?

No, the 2 fighting games take that prize.

No, the 2 fighting games take that prize.
Especially the one that got ported to the PS1. That was simply horrid.

While I won't deny Double Dragon V is a piece of crap, the NeoGeo Double Dragon fighting game is pretty good. I dunno what you two are on. :P

Me and you have had this conversation before but I attribute this to your high taste in liking bad games. So while you may get a pass on liking something that horrible nobody else is going to get it.

My guess is no.
I've played the SNES fighting game but don't remember it, so can't really comment on that. Looking at gameplay videos of it on Youtube right now, I think it would atleast be more fun than Double Dragon 3 Arcade.

... Actually, it was, for a good while, the most popular fighting game in my high school. We all played after school in an arcade nearby around '96/97.
I have played my fair share of bad fighting games. I think a lot of people hate this one because it was spawned from that cheesetacular movie with the Chairman from Iron Chef America, and that guy from Party of Five. :P

Thats the other beef I have with this game. Before I played it I figured this was some rare Neo Geo gem that Playstation owners were fortunate enough to get a port of. So you can imagine my surprise(and disgust) when I won this on ebay and put it into my PS1 only to find out this was yet another crappy ass licensed game. I almost threw my controller once that initial FMV played after booting it up. It's definitely the worst Double Dragon game I've ever played and atleast one of the worst 3 fighting games I've played.
