It's too big for just the Classic Gaming Expo forum, so I thought I'd share this with you here.

ANOTHER RELIC UNEARTHED AT CGE

http://www.digitpress.com/dpsightz/atari2600/boxes/looping_box_front_sm.jpgClassic Gaming Expo Services has announced their second of three new releases for this year's Expo in Las Vegas, NV on August 9th and 10th. It's Looping, the VentureLine sleeper arcade game that made a splash on the ColecoVision. Fly your bi-plane through multiple levels, taking out targets and obstacles, navigating through tight mazes and reach the final destination before time runs out! The title was announced for the Atari 2600 but has never been seen until now! Check out a complete preview at Digital Press (http://www.digitpress.com/archives/cc_looping.htm), which includes screen shots, box art, and original advertising promos.

Will this be a CGE exclusive or will copies be available after the show is long gone?

CGE exclusive Pet peeve of mine. There is no such thing. Call it a CGE introductory or a CGE debut. Every game released last year was still available as recently as today. Most new releases are created in abundance so the whole "exclusives" thing is a thing of the long-ago past, just as there aren't Philly exclusives or Cinci exclusives or future AGE exclusives. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

However, if I'm proven wrong, I shall feel like an ass.

OH yeah. This year's crop of unreleased titles and homebrew, no matter WHAT convention they first show up at, is looking might-eeeee tasty.

Must...knock over...liquor...store....

Thank you Snider-man, and good, I say! Nothing used to chip my beef more than "exclusives." While I can't make it to Vegas, I do think I would like a copy of this game. :)

Yeah I think we all learned our lesson about this a few years back. Exclusives just make these events seem "elitist" and that's not the point. While we want to give attendees something to say "Look what I got at CGE" about, we certainly don't want to neglect those who have other plans or simply can't afford the trip.

The downside to this, of course, is that some chucklehead will dump the ROM after the Expo and distribute it publicly, which could potentially hurt sales of the game after the Expo. This has already happened to us a few times but I don't think it's terribly damaging. Owning the cartridge complete with the packaging is often as important to gamers as the game itself!

"Douchebag" Joe. The word you're looking for is "DouchebagTM-SNIDERMAN LTD. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. 2003."

Exclusives are especially tough on us normal folks these days with a certain other website's near stranglehold monopoly on the Homebrew and proto release market. And yes the box and such is just as important!!!! I wouldn't really sweat some douchebag dumping the ROM. Its no big.

Will we be able to purchase it via DP or elsewhere?

And some people wonder why we geezers like the Digital Press Website...

You know, for a "new guy", you certainly seem to know what's what.

I promise you'll be able to get this game, as well as Entity and the "mystery title to be named later" well after CGE2k3 is over. It's possible that we'll offer them here, and even more likely that it will be available through the cgexpo.com site too.

Game ON!

Just calling a spade a spade, dude.

I'm glad this is going to be available. Any word on pricing? :-D

I don't think releasing the binary will hurt the sales at all. There are two different (partially overlapping) groups of people. Those who collect and those who play.

Those who collect will buy the game anyway and those who prefer to play won't without having the chance to test the game.

So IMO releasing the binary a few days (or weeks) after the show is the probably the best idea. And, last not least, no "Douchebag"(TM) will have a chance to celebrate the triumph to "harm" you. :)
