Hi there, I found this today at my local flea market and cant find any info online. Wondering if anybody out there has ever seen one or has one. It came with a run of the mill SMW manual and no game, he said he'd lost it. I bought it for $1. Any ideas?

That's an odd one right there. Never seen it before.

Didn't all Super Nintendo's come with SMW from day 1? Looks like blockbuster made a rental box so you would have to rent the game that came with your rental system.

It did and that's the likely reason why it was made. In time, a standalone SMW was released for just this purpose. This Nintendo-made box is pretty hard to come by.

I've seen this twice before. Send me a PM if you are looking to sell. I honestly have no clue as to the value of it.

Do you mean the standard retail release of SMW?
No. About a year after the SNES came out, Nintendo released the Control Set that included one controller and no game. Thus Nintendo had a reason to release SMW separately.
I do remember seeing this box at Blockbuster, though.

... do you know to read? I don't think you do. Just because I said it was released for this purpose doesn't mean it was the only purpose. Christ.

Finally! You get a Mario cart with a metallic Blockbuster sticker on it that is a pain in the ass to remove who cares! Just pop it in this box and it adds to the effect.
