I've been a little behind in things lately. Are there any rumors of a 25th Anniversary compilation (like with the Super Mario 25th last December) on the Wii? Or is this Anniversary just a series of different Zelda games, like Nintendo appeared to allude to at E3?

All Zelda games NES to Gamecube on two Wii discs. I'd buy it, even if Majora's Mask being on the disc makes it a less than worthy purchase.

Last I knew, that compilation was being batted around, but the bosses over at HQ shot it down? Didn't want to repeat Mario All-Stars 25th, was the reason given.

Bummer; that would have been a nice companion to the Mario 25th.

I wonder how the ethos is doing now they're down 82% in sales.

Yeah, sounds about right. But on the other hand, that's probably why they are still around. LOL

Convince Nintendo to do a complete Zelda compilation, and you can have it. LOL

That's really disappointing.

I just picked up a wii and hoped they would do some sort of compilation since the last zelda game I played was maybe..Links Awakening I think. Its too bad they botched the Mario 20th anniversary as well, I would of snatched up in a heart beat a set that had:

Super Mario 1
Super Mario 2
Super Mario 3
Super Mario World
Super Mario World 2 Yoshi's Island
Super Mario RPG (if they could of pulled it off)
Super Mario 64

But unless I'm mistaken the 25th Anniversary thing was just Super Mario All Stars on a disc? Kinda lame IMO.

I want a gold 3DS to be released for black friday. They do a special edition handheld every black friday. My vote goes for a zelda anniversary edition.

I think a gold Zelda Wii would sell fairly well to all us fans :)

They're doing stuff for the anniversary, such as that port of Four Swords coming to the 3DS.

And even if they had done a compilation disc, it wouldn't of included a ton of content. Now that they know they can sell these things for $5-$10 as downloads in the millions, they wouldn't be tossing most all of the series up to now on to a $30 disc for the same reasons they didn't do it with Super Mario Brothers.

For $30, I imagine they'd of just made it roughly equivalent to the price of the same games as downloads and just have included the two NES games, the SuperNes game, and Ocarina of Time.

Still, I'm disappointed. I knew it was never going to happen, but wishful thinking had me really hoping that they'd rework those BS Zelda broadcast from Japan on to a disc and give us some classic Zelda action that was brand new to us that wasn't available through their Virtual Console. Now that would've been a celebration to finally get to play that stuff properly.

I really doubt something like that could've gone sight unseen to me. Have a source to prove you just didn't create that?

And why not have a repeat considering how well the last one sold?

No truth whatsoever with that rumor.

I just did a search and sadly, it appears to be true. Miyamoto and Iwata both opposed coming out with a compilation, at least according to this link:

My apologies then, Icarus Moonsight. I would've thought if there was even a shred of truth to that, that it would've been plastered across the internet at sites that cover gaming news.

But my point about them not shooting it down because of sales of their last attempt stands. Heck, they even did a second production run that wasn't planned just to satisfy demand. So sales of that certainly didn't factor into this decision since it was a huge success for Nintendo (And which NOA apparantly wanted to replicate a second time with the Zelda series).

Same here. Before I created this thread, I did a search on this board and Atari Age and found nothing.

Very disappointed, I really would have loved to see a compilation. Hell, I'd even but it if it were over-priced. :(

Just get the compilation for Gamecube and play it on the Wii, it's exactly what a Wii compilation would have been if it would have come out. All they did for the Mario one was re-release All-Stars, I doubt they would have bothered to make a new compilation for the Wii when they already had one they could have lazily reused instead.

If anything they'll wait until their new system comes out before releasing a compilation, it would force people to buy it just to play the games again. No sense in making the Wii seem too awesome or nobody would bother upgrading to the next console. I still doubt a new compilation would happen though.

It's just not the same, I want a little history book that would have come with it.

You'd think this would be the perfect time to release a Zelda compilation considering how shitty their sales have been lately. They even lowered their expected earnings for the year by something like 80%. I'm pretty sure this compilation(even if just a lazy port of the Gamecube versions) would have sold very well for them and made quite the profit, provided they didn't make it another limited edition.

I think it's just like Leo A stated. Why port a collection when they know they can get $5, $10, and in the case of Ocarina of Time 3D, $40 for each game seperately? For some gamers, this could potentially be the fifth(amount of LoZ versions) time buying some of these games and that works in Nintendo's favor.
