GusGous writes "South African newspaper Beeld reports that the first person known to be arrested for jailbreaking the Playstation 3 was arrested in Parktown, Johannesburg today. This raid was conducted by the South African Police Service's Commercial Crime Unit, after receiving criminal complaints from the South African Federation Against Copyright Theft (SAFACT). Members of the police were assisted by the South African Revenue Service (SARS) Computer Forensics Lab. The police confiscated goods of around R100 000 (14000 USD)." It's nice to see oppression alive and well in one of the most fucked-up nations on earth.

By "they" do you mean the South African police? You are aware that Africa is a continent, right?

The distance between South Africa and Nigeria is similar to that of France and Iran.

Anyway, fuck the scammers.

I'd be willing to bet 90% of the forum members here couldn't find both France and Iran on a map.

They're the smoldering craters who said soccer is greater than life itself, right?

Er, what?

I was talking about countries (South Africa and Nigeria), and how they handle criminal reports. It's easier for a huge corporation to have a guy arrested in one country and yet it's impossible for another country to stop the waves of scammers that live in its borders. Impossible, or against their own interests. :P

I'm just amused that South Africa has a government agency called SARS.

Shouldn't they have renamed that agency in 2003? You would think...

Cannon fodder, mostly.

Yeah, that was in bad taste, sorry.
