View Full Version : is it possible to find a CIB Gate of Thunder for a non-ridiculous price?

I just looked on eBay, and complete copies go for something like $80 shipped. That seems a little high for what was a pack-in game. It would be like if Super Mario Bros. went for $100.

Has anyone here seen more reasonable prices anywhere?

I guess most people lost the manuals. But yeah this game is being overpriced, you probably notice few expensive ones are actually finding buyers.

I'm curious as to how this was packaged in the bundle. I bought mine YEARS ago and the disc was included in a stack of games I bought with the system. I had all of the manuals for the games but I remember the discs being in generic cases. I don't remember there being any back insert. I suppose I should go on Ebay and look for pics. :p

If you wait for a regular auction you should be able to get the game for ~$40, maybe less if it is missing one of the manuals. Lots of TG games are way overpriced in the BINs compared to what you can get them for if you wait.

The game didn't come with rear art for some reason. But you can find some custom made ones around.

If all I'm really missing is the manuals then that's all I should really look for, isn't it?

I didn't think there was a rear insert for the 3-in-1 or Ys I&II pack-in. I figured it was because they just had copies of the original instruction books for Ys and the Bonks so they decided to just add the Gate of Thunder one with them and put the discs in generic cases.

Bah...reading this thread has got me wanting to play some Duo games again. :)

Yup, but keep in mind the Bonk's Adventure/Revenge manuals are slightly different than the original hucard release manuals. On the back it credits TTI and such (like most all late TG releases), not a big deal if you're not too anal about it though.

Anything to save a few cents I guess. lol Why are pack in games always so borked? I believe the books were all printed new though, just like what I wrote above with regards to the Bonk manuals from the 3in1 and crediting TTI. Really minor stuff.

In the case of Ys 1 & 2 definitely go for the original retail release (iirc there are 3 versions of the game released, 1 retail and 2 different pack ins). Comes with a map. Probably the hardest version to find but not particularly worth more if I recall right.

I was honestly thinking of going for the Japanese releases of Ys 1-3 since I'm learning Japanese and they seem to be dirt-common in their country of origin (still command at least $20-$40 on eBay though)
