O.K. I've had my Jaguar for 6 months with 1 game. CyberMorph.
I've used it once and I am wondering if it's worth keeping.
Are there any must have games for it ? Also is it worth it trying to get the cd add-on ? Are there any good games for the cd ?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks !!!!!!!!!!!

If you like the VR 3D look, (vs the texturemapping "real" look we have today) I recommend Iron Soldier. Tempest 2K is great as well (and plays better than the PSX remake). Rayman is good. Club Drive is wacky but flawed. Skiing and Snowboarding is fun (but no SSX by a long long long shot). Avoid Checkered Flag and Crapsumi Ninja!

The CD attachment is fun for the Virtual Light Machine, and the possibilities of cheap Jag Free releases...

Cheers,
Ben

Between Trevor McFur, Kasumi Ninja, and Fight for Life, the system is worth keeping for unintended comedy value alone.

Seriously, though, you could try Alien vs. Predator, Tempest 2000, Rayman, Defender 2000, Iron Soldier, and a few others. I didn't play much on the CD system, but Battlemorph might be worth a look if you really like Cybermorph.

I avoided this system like the plague. Is it true that half the games were rushed into production uncompleted, or with flaws? That you could be playing the game and half way through it just 'ends'? I've also been told that the motion of characters in some games is really rigid.

I've only played the system once, in a store. I knew one person who has/had it....but that's about it.

There is no reason to keep your Jag. Send it to me and I will dispose of it properly.

LIES I TELL YOU!!

The Atari Jaguar was however, born with it's heart on the outside...

I asked myself the same question, and even after playing some of the before mentioned games, I don't miss it one bit. Tempest 2K was my favorite, and if you have the space & time, maybe it is something to hold on to, at least until you can try something more than CyberMorph. Pick up AvsP, Iron Soldier, Tempest, Defender & Rayman, then make the decision. There are some worthwhile games for it, but I personally didn't need and/or have the space for 20+ systems all around one tv. My Jaguar was one of the first systems to go, when I started selling off my collection. I'd rather keep system that has more than 5 games that I would see myself playing on a regular basis. ;)

:hmm: My sarcasm detector isn't catching whether or not you are being serious on either comment LOL

Two words.

Collectible value.

Mark my words, you ditch it, and on your next hunt you will find a minty pile of the few excellent jag games for $2 at a garage sale. That's the way it works.

I just bought a boxed Jag with CyberMorph and docs, and 2 controllers for $45USD. I'm VERY pleased, as it looks good with the other systems! It completes my Atari 'console' set

Atari VCS
Atari 5200
Atari 7800
Atari Lynx
Atari Jaguar

That is why. :P

Club Drive is wacky but flawed.

Flawed or not I like Club Drive. It kinda grows on you over time. When I first played my reaction was "meh" but I kept coming back to it for some reason. I find playing the game relaxing and fun.

Unfortunately, yes. The Mid-1990s were filled with stories of half-baked, glitch-laden games on that system. That's really too bad, because some of the games, such as Rayman, Pitfall, Tempest 2000, Alien vs. Predator, Doom, Iron Soldier, and Power Drive Rally (was that the name?), were quite good.

Telegames released Worms and an RPG for the Jaquar- were these games any good?

"Towers II" was the RPG- it was slow, linear, & blocky as hell but the storyline wasnt bad. The ending felt like a copout, as if the programmers said "ah, screw it..." but there wasnt anything like it for the Jag which is why I bought it (the game).

Towers II was later released for PC and GBC by Telegames.

Never ever sell a system! >:(

The only time it's okay is if you have an extra.

Buy the games that have been recommended and one
day you will be happy that you kept it.

O.K. I got Tempest 2000 and Aliens vs Predator and played them both.
Not bad..... Tempest kind of grows on you. :D

Even if you don't get another game, keep the Jag and find yourself the CD add-on. The Virtual Light Machine turns any CD you pop in into a beautiful light show on your TV. I don't know why the later systems don't add such a feature to their consoles, as I bet it would be fairly easy to program. I've got a second one hooked up to the TV in my Family Room, it's great for playing music at parties!

Long live the VLM!

I can understand the feelings behind the original post. I got a Jag recently myself, and the honest truth of the matter is that there really isn't much in the way of must have games available for the Jag.

The two best games on the system are Aliens Vs. Predator and Doom. Two first person shooters. Some would say that the PSone version of Doom is much better, and there are tons of good first person games like AVP that can be found on various systems. So unlike other systems, there really aren't any exlusive games that are big time must have games.

I happen to really like Cybermorph, so I'm happy with my Jag and my Cybermorph cart. But the real honest truth, is that I've spent quite a bit of cash just to obtain a Jag, and I'm not so sure that it really was cash well spent.

But it is nostalgic for me, cause I had a Jag back in the day.

So then there is that.
