For the longest time I was excited to get the collectors edition but after seeing it I've changed my mind. Im tired of art books for the love of god, the statue and the dvd are cool but not worth no $90. If this was priced at $100 I might consider it. All well, guess I will preorder the regular edition so I can at least get a freakin map, the way I understand it the game will not come with a map unless you preorder it?

It comes with a paper map no matter what, but it comes with a cloth map too with a preorder. I'm thinking about getting this, because they say it'll be released in limited quantities, but I don't know how true that will be.

You also get a interactive map every time you press the "Y" button. That's the one I'll be using.

I'm a sucker for CEs...especially for games that I know I'm going to love. However, I'm so disappointed with the price point that I highly, highly doubt I'm going to pick this up. I mean, most companies would charge about $80 for the set without the PVC statue. That means you're basically spending $70 on a piece of plastic. If the statue was made out of anything else I might consider it...but PVC? The art book is cool as hell though, I'll admit that. At least people who bought the $150 BOps set got a fully functioning RC car with a freaking camera on it.

Do you only get the cloth map with the CE pre-order or do you get it with any pre-order?

That is ridiculously expensive for a CE considering what comes with it. Absolute bug-shit crazy.

That's too much for a CE

This is why I love being away from my Xbox - I don't feel compelled to buy all these new games.

For Bethesda to price it at $150 - which IIRC is probably more than just about any other CE out there - says that they think that their game is better than just about any other game out there. They're probably right, and there may be a big enough Elder Scrolls fanbase - and I mean, the kind of fanbase who ONLY play Elder Scrolls, and not much else - that they have a shot at selling all of these.

Those of us who play more than one game would never touch this, as it looks like a real rip-off, but for those people whose world revolves around the happenings of Tamriel, the release of Skyrim is like having the next Harry Potter book and the next Lord of the Rings book come out all at once, and they think it's worth it, I suppose.

Ya I have to agree, I am a pretty big fan of this game at one point I had 3 CE of Oblivion and I told myself no matter what I was going to get this but $150 is just insane. Maybe I'll come across a cheap one some day or maybe they will make way to many like the did Legendary editions of Halo Reach and have them cheap (my best buy has like 30 of these, lol) Honestly if your going to price it at $150 though you need to step up your game, Duke Nukem Forever had a nice set for $100 I think it was and it came with a bunch of goodies. Obviously Bethesda thinks they are releasing Modern Warfare 3 and not Infinity Ward.

I've only ever bought one collector's edition, and I regretted it, so no, I won't be buying the Skyrim one.

Skyrim will, however, be one of the few games I buy on release date.

I'll buy it. I'm a total sucker for these collector's editions, and Oblivion is still one of my favourite games from this generation.

Um. You mean you'd pay 100 but not 90?:?

60+90=150

He's saying he'd buy this collectors edition that includes the $60 game and the bonus content if the total package was just $100. But he isn't willing to pay the current $150 asking price since he doesn't think the extras are worth the $90 premium over the standard edition.

Seems reasonable, although I personally think a $40 premium if it was priced at $100 is still far too much for their additional content.

I better hurry up and finish Oblivion. Been taking my sweet time with it and still have 95% of the main quest left to do, a handful of guild missions left, Shivering Isles (Just visited it briefly once), and tons of miscellaneous side quest left to do. I go back to it about once a year and dump 15-20 hours into it over the span of a week or two and then move on to something else. Has kept the game fresh and exciting and I've been able to make it last for half a decade now. I'll be sad to finish it up, but I easily have another 30 or 40 hours left in it (Around 100 already logged).

Hopefully by the time I finish, the usual GOTY edition will be out for Skyrim with hopefully some DLC expansions included right on the disc.

Yup.

I am in the same boat on the game. 100 hours but hardly any of the main quest is done and I picked this game up like 5 times over the years. I have managed to complete the Dark Brotherhood and the Mages Guild though. Last I played "I" the "Archmage" got kicked out of the mages guild for killing a fellow mage on a mission, so I pretty rage quit. lol

Meh, I never really bother with CEs. If there's a pre-order bonus that's really cool (OST CD usually pulls me in) then I'll bite but otherwise no. And this is waaay over priced!

I think I'll have the CE. Elder Scrolls Oblivion was an amazing game and I'll get to say, 20 years from now, that I have a collectible, rare game that I got when new. We all know at $150 it's going to have few buyers. I'm fortunate my 19th birthday is right after this game comes out.

Plus I'm pretty sure it comes with a crapton of awesome stuff for that price. Maybe not worth $150 but I've been jonesing for this game since I beat Oblivion on August 14, 2010.
