Given the amount of rumour and speculation that came with every internal revision of the XBOX360, I was thought that at least the hacker and repair sites would be all over the first significant revision of the most popular game console of this generation.

Well, it's most popular overall, but not most popular with that "hardcore" type of person who does that sorta stuff, I guess.
With 360 you also have that whole "have they finally fixed it" vibe going on as well.

Kinda like Sonic the Hedgehog games, I guess.

Is there a way to tell if you're purchasing a Wii that's bc or not? Is there some identifier on the packaging? I probably should have purchased one when bc drop was announced, but might do so now before you can't find a new bc model. Not entirely sure if I will purchase it or wait for the Wii U since I still own a Gamecube, but I might.

Yes, it's quite obvious actually. The Wii text is rotated 90 degrees.

Weren't there a few Wii games that required GameCube controllers? I recall some "Active Life Challenge" thing that came with a floor mat that used the GCN controller plug. I'm guessing that one doesn't work on the new Wii...

That, and all the DDR games. :(
Though, let's be honest, with 40 million systems already out there, finding a Wii that is BC isn't exactly going to be an impossible task.

What is the point. 98% of the units are sold to people who do not even know what " hacking a console" means. They just plug it in when the grandchildren come of the play bowling with Paw,Paw and Maw, Maw.

If it comes with NSMB Wii, then it's the newer model.
You can tell them apart by looking at the picture of the console.
The new model has all of the text horizontal because it's not meant to stand vertically.
