I'm partial to Vampire Night on the PS2. It's just incredibly cheesy fun, ala House of the Dead. Of course it is so similar to HotD because Sega developed it, Namco published. It came packaged with the Guncon 2, or solo (I got my Guncon 2 from Time Crisis 3).

The Wii has a great selection of shooting games; House of the Dead 2 & 3, HotD Overkill, Resident Evil Umbrella/Darkside Chronicles so objectively I'd have to go with the Wii.

I still love Vampire Night though!

Hmmm...

For the NES, Duck Hunt and Hogan's Alley are plenty of simplistic fun. I really love Time Crisis II in the Arcade (there is a PS2 port, but without the pedal I fail to see how it could hope to recapture the feel of the game).

I feel like light gun shooters are the only thing that the Wii does well. In particular, you have:

Ghost Squad
House of the Dead 2 & 3
House of the Dead Overkill
Resident Evil Chronicles (two games here)
Target: Terror
Mad Dog McCree
LA Guns / the other Sega shooter

And probably like 10 more I'm missing that are all pretty good. The only three that I wish it had that it doesn't are Area 51, Maximum Force and Carnevil. And Police Trainer I guess too. The Saturn and Playstation handle the first two okay, but I'm happy to report that I own all three of those in their arcade versions :)

I really, really liked the SMS for shooters. I always found Safari Hunt much more enjoyable than Duck Hunt, and IMO it seemed like one of the only systems prior to the PS1 that really tried to support the peripheral.

Gangster Town, Rescue Mission, Shooting Gallery; all are still fun distractions.

Another vote for the Wii. Lots of good gun games on that one.

I love the Virtua Cop Series, and House Overkill on Wii.
To bad VCop didnt make it as rerelease to the Wii yet. A collection with all 3 and maybe Confidental would be nice

For looks, the SMS with it's gun is one of the sharpest looking things ever.

For play, the Saturn with the Virtua Cop gun. The thing was weighted well enough I could kinda quickly roll the gun on my finger and reload super fast.
Too bad Area51 on the thing wasn't that hot of a port :(
