What's Nintendo's strategy with the DS line (Lite, DSi, DSiXL)? Are systems still being produced or are they officially discontinued? If not, is an official Nintendo price drop in the cards?
P.S. I don't follow gaming news as much as I did in the past, so please forgive me if this is all "common knowledge".

They're still in production. Nothing has been announced as far as a price drop, but it's kind of assumed that one is coming soon. Probably a relatively modest one, though. I wouldn't be too surprised if they dumped the Lite at this point, but nothing has been announced.
Also, this is not classic gaming.

Wasn't / isn't the Lite dropped to $99? I swear I've seen stickers to that extent at a few different stores over the past month or so.

The Lite is no longer in production in Japan. I assume EU/NA territories will discontinue that model as well in a matter of time.

Yes, Lite got a drop recently to $99. After the 3DS reset, everything else seems relatively overpriced.

Well GBA is definitely classic as it's two gens back in the handheld market. DS would simply be "last gen"

I don't think Nintendo has actually yet given direct confirmation GBA is discontinued.

While that's true, the last two releases were back in 2008, so over 3 years ago:
2008 Samurai Deeper Kyo Action Overhead View Action
2008 Motocross Challenge Racing Motocross

No GBA systems in production, GBA support removed from all DS models after the Lite, no GBA games released regardless of developer for quite some time. I think that's confirmation right there.

Everybody knows a console's not dead until the last Madden game is released :p

Yeah I think if a system doesn't have any Madden games for 3 years its already dead. Otherwise it would keep getting Madden games.

I need a DSXL. Have those dropped in price yet?

DS discussion certainly belongs in the modern gaming section (And per the forum definitions, GBA discussion does as well).

It has ceased being manufactured for North America as well. Nintendo of America announced it when they dropped the MSRP to $100 a few weeks back.
So just the DSi and DSiXL are left, both of which I think will remain in production for quite sometime yet.

That was a while back. Well before the 3DS price drop.

I got a Bronze DSi XL from Radio Shack for $99 yesterday. That's their new list price if you can find one. The damn thing is too big next to my DS Lite, but I like the fact that I can download DSiWare games, so I'm going to keep it. Plus I don't care very much for the 3DS.

Maybe at RadioShack, for that model, or you got some kind of sale, but everywhere else retail is still at 169.xx for DSi XL's. DSi's are down to 129 and lites are at 99.

DSiXL just got a new color as well. So looks like DSi will be around for a while

Yeah, Radio Shack is clearing them out. The regular DSi is $79.97 there, if you can find one. I couldn't.
