I got this game recently as I was looking for some action RPGs that weren't too expensive. I'm a little bit into the game, and so far, I really like it. The music is awesome, and I really like the combat. My only gripe is that it's pretty easy to get lost within dungeons.
There seem to be a lot of negative reviews for this game, some call it a Ys clone, some don't like the attack range, and others don't like the story. Any of you guys play this one?
I've been having lots of fun with it, I'm glad I picked it up. :)

I just picked this up a month ago, but I haven't had a chance to play it yet. I'd also be interested in hearing some opinions. I'll try to fire it up tonight.

I could see the original version being called an Ys clone, but that wouldn't even make sense for the SNES version, considering they changed the combat so that you slash the enemies a la Zelda. Which is where the complaint about the attack range comes in because the length of the sword was never intended for a game with this means of attacking.
Anyway, it's a good game. Flawed and hilariously wonky in certain ways, but still enjoyable. The best part of it is the music.

It's one of my favorite SNES games of all time. The soundtrack will get stuck in your head and once you get used to fighting with a toothpick the gameplay is addictive enough that you won't put it down. My only complaint (besides the sword length) is that some of the bosses are cheap and there are some I could never figure out how to defeat without utilizing a glitch or quirk of programming. If you need any help with the game, PM me and let me know.

I really enjoyed the game as well. I never beat it but I was interested in it. I sold my cart but I still got it on the powerpak. If I can beat it, I'll buy a CIB for a future replay.

The game pissed me off. When I was younger, I used to record me beating games. I made it all the way to the end, and as I was fighting the last boss, I get stuck and couldn't move. The thing just touches me, while I'm helplessly watching my life bar drain to nothing. After that, the title screen appears. On the video I recorded, you can see the screen go from the title screen to garbled graphics and a buzzing sound.
Fuck that game. I do love the music though.

Having never played Lagoon, I can't say for certain, but that type of error happens on a few games semi-frequently. I assume you tried again, maybe even with a different cart. The shittiest spot for it to happen, for sure. I'm just wondering if this is a isolated incident, or if this is another Minestorm.

How strange, that happened to me too, during the first boss fight. Thankfully I saved right before I entered the boss door.

This "freezing up" stuff NEVER happened to me, on any playthru.
