Gamestop called and said it will be available Tuesday morning. I got mine preoreded. Played (finished once) the original only last year, after having started it a decade earlier. Have not played Invisible War, but have a copy on hand.

PC Gamer just posted a great review. Small compaints about in game advertising and this and that, but overwhelmingly positive.

But advertising is part of the storyline , kind of like how mgs4 did it cause of the advertising of companies being part of it. I wonder if the story will cause any controversy O_o.... its like some wicked Alex jones shit i tell ya that.

I am really looking forward to playing it tomorrow. The Explosive and Tactical packs being separate exclusives in the US is really stupid though. I'm getting sick of every store having a different pre-order exclusive.

It's great to see the game getting excellent reviews and seeing a lot of interest from people who never played Deus Ex.

If I recall most of the same people are working on a little game called Thief 4. :D (hint hint)

The first Deus Ex was truly a work of genius, and sits loftily atop my list of Best Games of All Time.

Invisible War was really a pale shadow of the first...it was OK, probably above-average for an FPS game, but it just didn't have the same level of depth, both in terms of story and gameplay, that the first did. Their attempt to make it console-friendly really stifled the gameplay, IMO.

This third one looks good. I'll probably get it, but for the PC. Those DLC packs look interesting, but I pre-ordered Invisible War and was pretty disappointed that I got it at launch - it was worth half of what I paid for it, maybe less. I'm going to wait and see what the bunch here says about this one.

I still haven't finished Thief 3, either...for some reason it didn't quite grab me like 1 / 2 did. Maybe it's the lack of those awesome cutscenes.

Didn't preorder, but I just ordered the Augmented Edition for Windows on Amazon. I'm busy with school now, so no rush.

Deus Ex is still my favorite example of what a PC game should be. Invisible War, while I never finished it, was a decent game that was held back by its expectations.

And by in-game advertising, do you mean this piece of awesomeness?

Hah, Final Fantasy XXVII, good to know they'll still be making them for years to come.

I think this looks awesome but I still need to finish (start playing actually) the original Deus Ex. I remember my mom randomly downloaded a demo of it on her computer when I was younger and it blew me away, and when I found a PS2 version later I was so excited to finally play it. However, it sucked unimaginably much. I don't know if it was a terrible port or a different version?

I can't imagine playing it on a console. Try it again on its native platform.

If Brink and LA Noire are any indication, the preorder packs will eventually be available for purchase. (The Brink preorder items just showed up on Steam as normal DLC.)

fallout x mass effect + crysis divided by robocop - bladerunner = deus ex HR

Anyone hear the shit that GameStop is pulling with the OnLive codes?

I'm sorry, but I'm done with that store. I would still go in for day-one stuff before, but this is just unacceptable. With the huge rack of game code cards that sits in every GameStop, there is no "not helping competition" excuse for this.

I'm assuming that once we finally do get FF27, one of the main gameplay features is that it plays by itself. It has some online capabilities as well as leaderboards, but it plays by itself also so your place on the leaderboard is determined by both luck and how many times you enter matches.

I'm definitely not a Deus Ex fan. I gave the original game a chance on the PC but I just couldn't get into it. It just didn't click with me at all. Still, I'm interested in seeing how people react to this installment, and I may even consider giving it a chance if it generates enough good word of mouth.

A little off topic on my own topic but if you got the deal on steam for preorder , when you play tf2 the deus ex lazer rifle is fucking fun as hell I swear to god. On Deus Ex Im loving it as much as the first time I played FF7 ( sounds like a stretch) , cause of the story and just the amount of detail that went into the game.

i've dumped points into everything BUT armor or shielding lol, i initially played the game stealthy and sneaky, but with all these upgrades it seemed like such a waste to go jumping thru rooftops and climbing thru vents,

lol its typhoon season up in this muthafucka! lol why give me a rocket launcher and explosive tipped rounds on a revolver if all i was going to do was hide in the shadows and hack turrets instead of taking them on head on like a MAN!

......BUT

you're right :( after suffering thru these 2 minute load screens something like 29 times in 29 minutes, looks like i have no choice

This was on a great sale this weekend on Steam - picked it up for about $20, including all the premium DLC content that was initially available only for pre-order. Glad I didn't pre-order it, by the way, because you couldn't buy all that in one fell swoop at the time. In addition, given how disappointing Invisible War was, there was no way I was going to pre-order another game in this series.

I am really, really liking this game so far. Plays very smoothly, even on my system that is a few years old at this point (which has dual video cards - ASUS EN9600GT SILENT). The game is incredibly story-rich in a way that Deus Ex: Invisible War wasn't. It's really a throw-back to the original game, and everything that made it so incredible. In fact, I would almost say that this game is an improvement over the original game, with all the conversation trees and the streamlined augmentation process. I absolutely love the punishing difficulty, which rewards stealth and strategy over mindless gun battles - it's a real triumph of balance and design.

Invisible War made me have my doubts, but I doubt no more. Human Revolution is a true and worthy successor to the original Deus Ex - a better successor by far than Invisible War ever was.

Does anyone else think that the color scheme detracts from the game? I understand that they wanted a contrast with the blue of the original, but I don't think yellow really works. Same thing with the soundtrack, I loved Alexander Brandon's original mod music soundtrack, but the music in HR isn't very memorable. Again, I know they wanted to make a contrast, but it doesn't help in my opinion. If Eidos Montral gets to do another Deus Ex, I'm hoping that they try something different in those areas.

All things considered, HR is definitely my favorite "modern" FPS. More games like this would get me back into shooters.
