can anyone reccommend a easy to use, free DOS shell or navagator and where to get it? i know windows 3.1 is basicly a fancy dos shell but i'm looking for something a little more...ehhh...dosy. i thought it would be a simple google search but i keep coming up to dead ends.

I loved Norton Commander 5.51.

I've used DOS Navigator and similar free Norton Commander like progs for years.
