How much are NES boxes worth, and is it better to sell them with the game or separately? I don't want to sell them for next to nothing now if they can be sold for much more later on CIB, but I don't anticipate selling the game carts or manuals anytime soon.

It really varies by game to how much they are worth. I think, especially with the more common games you can make more by selling boxes only to people who need them to complete a game. Myself, I would be willing to pay at least a couple dollars a piece for boxes if I need them.
For the record, If you're selling, I'm looking to buy a bunch of them.

Yeah, common games sell boxed. Anything that is fun (Contra, Megaman etc) or anything that is uncommon to rare you can get anywhere from a few bucks to hundreds. If you want to take the time. You can sell them all at once and usually get $2-4 per piece in my experience.

I usually say that NES manuals are worth about 1/2 the value of the game. Boxes are about 2x the value of the game. That's just a guideline I go by.

Depends on the box. Most times you will be able to get at least 50% of the carts value for the box. However, this does flux and it could be 25% or could be 100% or more. As an example, Chubby Cherub gets around the order of 5,000% versus the cart ($5 versus $250).
If you're selling, I'm buying. :P

Some good information, thanks. If they're worth only $2 each, I'm probably better off just keeping most of them for CIB value. I just don't care about collecting boxes anymore because I don't use them for storing the carts, but do like to have the manuals and maps. My rule-of-thumb for Ebay is not more than $3-5 for a manual and not more than $5-8 for a box. I think I overpaid a couple years ago when I bought a lot of CIB.

If you don't care about the boxes and don't plan on selling the carts, you might as well sell the boxes and get some money for more carts/manuals. No one said they were "only" worth $2 each, it just depends on what box it is.

I might do something like this. Boxes are a gigantic space hog. If you've ever seen Sega CDX side by side with just one boxed game, it's an astounding sight to realize.

This. If you want, post a list of your boxes and we can price 'em out and then you can choose what to keep. Some may surprise you and be
Keep in mind, if you post a box I need (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=152301), I'll send you a PM like a really obnoxious vulture as I swoop in.

I'm just sorting through and gathering my sales pile together now, so I can maybe list some later.
