What's the best video game version of Risk, including computer and console versions? I'm looking for one with assortment of opponents, reasonable A.I. such as building armies along border countries of continents, being able to attack in two different directions, and also a good options menu. The only ones I've played is the Sega Genesis and GBA Risk and the A.I. is non-existent.

If you're looking for one with all those options and a good AI, you won't find it on a classic system. Get Risk:Factions (http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/16/hands-on-risk-factions/) for XBLA.

I second that.

Risk Factions has several major problems for the Risk fanatic, such as the inability to enable the option for picking your countries before a round starts.
The best I've played is Risk on Pogo.com.

I tried the Pogo.com and it doesn't work on my computer.

So what's the best PC version of Risk? And is PS2 Risk Global Domination any good?

Just buy the board game and invite some friends round - this is much more enjoyable.

RISK: Factions has good AI? It's stupidly easy to get the AI players to fight over Australia on the Classic map for dozens of turns while you slowly take over the rest of the world. Similarly with any sort of map that has some sort of concentration of high value territories.
Given, the last time I played RISK on the PC was over 10 years ago so I can't really say if it has improved at all.

Unless the game is more based on luck than skill most classic board games just don't have the AI to put up much of a fight.

I really liked the Risk version for PC from 1996. It had the classic version, and Ultimate Risk variant with a little bit more strategy. It also implemented events like plague and disease, desertion, Generals, prisoner exchanges, and all kinds of other fun things. It ran decently well on a 16MB RAM Pentium 1 setup, and was loads of fun with friends. It could play a little long though; I think I spent a couple weeks playing one scenario vs computer [I seem to recall it was 2 vs 2].

I liked Risk Global Domination for the PS2. AI was decent. Lots of different game options. I also love playing Risk online at www.conquerclub.com
