Halo 4-6: The Reclaimer Trilogy

I haven't been a big fan of the original trilogy but hopefully they will move away from the flood so I will be checking out the first one.

I'm as big a Halo dork as anybody, but I'm witholding my excitement until 343 actually shows they can put out a quality game. They've done a lot to monetize and expand the franchise... anime DVDs, halloween costumes, plushies, and now 2 spinoff book trilogies (Glasslands and Forerunner). Great. Those can suck or not, and nobody will really care. But put out one bad game, and 343 screws the pooch.

True but I'd wager that they do a decent job with this. Given that the expectations are what they are from the fanbase at least. Though that can also lead to unrealistic expectations and a let down in the end. I'd hope they would try and keep things consistent. I've enjoyed the Halo games so far; mostly the original 3 though the other two were good in their own rights. I'm glad to be moving on from the whole Humans vs. Covenant thing though.

I will credit 343 for recognizing the importance of the community. After watching a number of the PAX panels they put on, it seems they truely want to do fans right, and they do have a number of the right people working for them. Whether that translates into a quality product, I guess we'll see next year. I'm encouraged by some of their decisions with the Reach title update, and it sounds like they have some interesting ideas to freshen up playlists, so in the short-term at least, it seems like 343 knows what's up.

I'm glad to see they're sticking with the "Humans vs. Covenant" storyline ending and moving on to something else. Will it now be "Humans/Covenant vs. Forerunners"? I'll be happy as long as it's not the Flood.

The horde is from Gears of War, representative of the locust horde. The Covenant were Halo's aliens.

I liked 343's new maps they designed for Halo Reach but I'm still a bit skeptical of what they are going to do for Halo 4. The trailer looked cool but they have a 50/50 chance of either screwing this up or hitting it out of the park. I'm going to check it out regardless since I'm a true Halo fan but I really hope they learned from the path that Bungie carved out.
