View Full Version : Three PAL Amiga CD32 systems...

After buying another this morning, I am now in possession of three CD32s. After many attempts to source a reasonably-priced power supply, I broke down today and whipped up my own using the ol' Molex-to-4-pin PSU method.

Heartbreakingly, all three systems turned out to be PAL. Considering I found the first of these 8 years ago, the second 1-2 years ago, and the third today, I figured at least one would end up being NTSC, but nope. I then hoped there was some sort of modification that would allow me to play these in color at 60hz, but all signs seem to point to no.

So, I have no use for these, but I imagine they're all still worth something. One has the box, docs, and controller; the other two are bare consoles only -- none have the PSU, but all three have been tested and work perfectly, so I got that going for me.

I'm quite reticent to sell these on Ebay, as I can't stand dealing with impatient overseas buyers and the unpleasant prospect of Paypal shenanigans. If that's the only place people will find them, then perhaps I'll have to go that route -- but I'd rather not. Also, I'm inclined to keep the controller, since they're obviously as hard to come by as the console itself, and if I ever bump into an actual NTSC system some day, I'd hate to regret offing it.

Anyone have any tips on where to sell them, and how much they're likely worth?

I could use one on my LCD, if their composite output works (this model set lacks any RF input even NTSC!). It might get a little off center but it'd probably be full color and all.

Yeah, everything works on each of them, including composite and s-video. I have read that the power switches on these things are sometimes problematic, but these all work great.

Hardest part is finding a PSU. Followed by controller. Looks to me the matter of acquiring them is why loose CD32's hold little value.

Games won't be too bad. Europeans would know more about what software is decent for this.

If you're looking to sell them you should put up a post over at amibay.com. It shouldn't be too hard to find someone willing to take them off your hands, perhaps even find someone willing to trade for an NTSC unit.

As a PAL dude myself I'm not the one to take a guess at the price, as I know close to nothing about the US market. They are known to be hard to sell at a decent price, though. You could check ebay.co.uk and ebay.de for a rough estimate.
