Scored a cheap copy of Fox Hunt on PS1... discs & case only though; no book.
The guide lists it as an R8 worth $25 complete, but prices with online sellers beg to differ.
Can anybody give a ballpark estimate?

With no book I'd say $20-$30 is about right.

I think $25 is what I paid for one off DP himself a few years ago.

Ok, cool. I saw some other sellers were charging crazy money, and I just wanted to get a quick reality check. Thanks!

Asking crazy monies and selling for crazy monies are two different things.
I'd bet a complete one should run 30-40 now and since i've not updated the prices on the guide, that doesn't surprise me all that much. The 25 complete price was set 7 years ago...

Since that was answered... does anyone know what a sealed one would be worth. Being an R8 there must be a few sealed collectors after it.

Eh, maybe $100 or so. PS1 sealed collecting is still in it's infancy and only true populars like Resident Evil and RPGs are commanding nice prices. All of the "rarities" aren't really too sought after believe it or not.

I disagree. I have been working on completing my Playstation sealed collection and rarer sealed games not only just don't turn up very often, but when they do, they go for crazy money. For example, I haven't seen a nice X-com in a couple of years, the only sealed Herc's Adventure I have seen in three years is Bucky's and while $250 is crazy, I'll bet he gets $150 at some point. I also rarely see Guilty Gear (another $150 game), Tales of Destiny is now consistently $150-$200 and I have literally never seen Psychic Force sealed since it was released. Long box commons like Road Rash and Need for Speed have all gone for $100+ in mint sealed shape recently and again, they only turn up very infrequently. I would agree that Fox Hunt is probably $100-$125 sealed mint which is not guaranteed given there are multiple discs to get loose, a double case to get cracked, extra wrap to be torn, etc...While the Playstation is no NES, it has been creeping up in value on the sealed side in the past two years.

Hey man, I collect PS1, I'm not sure what you tried to read into my message. I'm just saying that there are plenty of potentially undervalued rarities in the PS1 library that sell cheaper than you expect given their rarity.
Having said that, you want to buy a sealed Team Buddies off me? :)

I don't know, the market seems in line with other disc based systems from the 90s, with many rarer games going for $100 plus. You also have to keep in mind that we are in that traditional period after the system stopped being actively supported where warehouses and other stock starts turning up which over the next few years will solidify what really is rare and what was just temporarily hard to find.
Although I'm sure you're joking, I already have a couple copies of Team Buddies that Midway sent me back in the day. I am looking for minty copies of Air Combat and X-com UFO factory sealed in their longbox plastic cases though if you have some extras ;)

I do have a sealed Psychic Force. May have an Air Combat but I'd have to double check. Ended up popping the seals on a couple games a few years ago to play them. Stuff I figured wouldn't be worth something later but who knows.

This one is a sleeper for sure. What is the going rate these days?

The last one that sold on Ebay and was actually factory sealed and mint hit just over $150 a little over two years ago. There's one up on Half/Ebay right now for $200 but the wrap looks off and has some wear.

Yeah the wrap on it is very cheap. I picked up a 6-10 in the 90s and most have some wear on the wrap. The going rate during the 90s was $100+ and even complete copies did very well. The price really hasn't gone up all that much in this time.

I think X-Com must be a cult classic or have great gameplay? (Never played it.) But from a rarity perspective, it is drastically overpriced as a CIB. It's gotta have a ton of demand behind a $40-$50 price tag because it should be more like $20-$30 given rarity.
Sealed is another story though and luckily I'm just going for a CIB Longbox set and not a sealed one. I don't track sealed longbox sales.

It's a cult classic.
