One that would work with an AV Famicom. I know there is one on Stoneagegamer.com but it says they don't work with AV Famicoms. I need this because i finally bought an AV Famicom, and by the way I would have posted this in Import Mania but you can't post in there any more.

Yes. Moving over...

Can somebody in Tech/Restoration help with this? Why is it that a standard adapter won't work on an AV Fami?

Probably our good "friend" shoddy construction. Even the expensive adapters often need a fix to run a few certain games.

I don't know where these adapters are found, but I didn't know there were compatibility problems. I was thinking of getting one of these too, so I can dump my NES hardware and have less consoles to deal with. I only intend on having a select few NES titles that didn't have Japanese releases and that's that.

Could we get more details on these adapters in this thread? :help:

Well here is a link to the adaptors on Stone Age Gamer

Thanks!

It mentions issues with a certain revision of the Famicom. I'd have to check which one I have is then.

What kind of issues are expected though? Do games simply not boot? Erratic behavior, etc.? It's weird because, as far as I know, running an FC game with an NES with the appropriate converter isn't an issue (the sound channel dilemma aside, of course.) but conversion in the other direction is a problem?

So you are looking for the adapter that plays NES (72pin) carts on a Famicom (60pin) right?

I actually have two of these adapters that I bought from Lik Sang in the mid 90`s. I used to use them with my Game Axe & GTA portables, but I've not tested on an AV Famicom.

I'd consider selling one, but seeing how hard it is to find the version that works with this it may be a bad move.

Well I'm not going to have money for quite some time, but I was hoping if anyone knew a site like stoneagegamer.com that sold them that worked with AV Famicoms

Sorry, the only place I knew of was Lik Sang and that was several years ago. I used the buy them in bulk and included them with my Game Axe auctions, but eBay stopped allowing the sales of these converters, and still ends your auction if listed.
So finding the compatible convertors there will be tough too.

Well I bought one and it was delivered to me today along with my Famicom AV, it works if you insert it and pull it up a bit. so the converter does work with AV Famicoms it's something to do with the pins not making correct contact.

Well I got it to work again, but this happened

Is that a sign of the cart loosing contact?

Sounds like a loose connection.

Or a random glitch. Has this happened more than once?

Yes it happens all the time, also the only game I can seem to get to work with it is Mega Man 6, all other games just lead to a gray screen
