View Full Version : Need help with name of handheld game

It was early 90s. It was a dot matrix screen. When you started the game this dude would say "Get ready to save the universe!" and then some beeps would count down until the game started. Once the game started you were a little ship or plane at the bottom that could move to 5 different places and shoot enemies that appeared at the top of the screen. Because of the universe thing, I'm assuming it was a space shooter game. But I can't remember. The handheld itself was possibly V-shaped...or maybe the screen was V-shaped?
Any help thinking of the name of this would be much appreciated.

Did you mean LCD screen? It's just that as a dedicated handheld that plays voices, it helps to narrow things down a bit. Tiger Electronics put out stuff like Space Fight (http://www.handheldmuseum.com/Tiger/SpaceFight.htm) that spoke. I've never played it, so I can't comment on whether or not it says your particular quote. But there weren't too many companies making handhelds by the early '90s, so it eliminates most of the companies on this page. (http://www.handheldmuseum.com/index.html) I think Tiger and Acclaim were the only prominent handheld makers at that time, and Tiger might have been the only one making them with digitized voices as far as I know.
