I needed to pick one of these up today and I can't seem to locate one. Went to 4 major stores and no luck. This could be old news or common knowledge but I had no idea.

The guy at GameStop said that MS doesn't make them anymore and that they'll be happy to take my credit card info on an auto-renew monthly subscription if I just sign up with my Xbox.

That's annoying. I only want this for the month and I hate calling and having to explain why I want to cancel, and then listen to their "but don't you want to use netflix or play games with friends" crap.

Yup, I haven't had them in for awhile. It's all 3 or 12 month these days.

That's lame, they're so much more convenient for people who only use Xbox Live once in a while and not 24/7.

I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that you can still get these at retail. The bad news is that you have to get them as a part of a gaming bundle, such as the Target version of Splinter Cell. Sometimes stores do these specials offering a one month card with certain new releases. But beyond that, whatever is still out there at retail is pretty much all thats left.

You can still buy them on Ebay and you would have their buyer protection if there was an issue.
