View Full Version : Is there a PS1/PS2 controller that has a decent d-pad AND L1/R1 shoulder buttons?

I recently picked up all the King's Field games for PS1. Since these games don't have analog controls, I'm forced to use the d-pad. I never liked the d-pad on 1st party controllers, so I was wondering if anyone knew of a 3rd party controller with a better d-pad. I love the d-pad on the Ascii controller that's designed for fighting games, but it has the L1 and R1 buttons on the face, not the shoulders, so it's hard to use in games like King's Field that use those buttons for strafing. Any suggestions?

Get a logitech USB controller and run the games on PS3. This allows you to toggle between d-pad or analog stick whether the games support them or not.
Barring that, get Gamepad Color by Performance. It has a raised d-pad as well.

The official 3rd party PS2 pads have a normal dpad. I'm not sure who makes them, but they have very similar packaging to Sony's DS2.

a company released ps2 compatible sega saturn controllers. they are pretty much the best dpads you can find. but the L and R triggers may leave something to be desired.

They have the same issue as the ASCII Pad FT. The L1 and R1 buttons are on the face.

This is the one I used to have 13 hours left after this posting. I have no interest in it so you should bid on it. It sure is cheap at $6 shipping and 99 cent auction.
