Dinosaur game - looking for title

Hello everyone,

My girlfriend and I were talking about video games from our childhoods, and she mentioned playing a game with dinosaurs in it that she was addicted to for the longest time. Unfortunately she doesn't remember what it was called, or even what system she played it for.

Here's her best description. She says you would play as a blonde kid, you had to collect dinosaur eggs, and she distinctly remembers riding a surf board or some type on lava (not sure if this is just a level or a bigger part of the game.

She believes it would have been either for Nintendo, Super Nintendo, or the Sega Genesis. I know it's a vague description, but if anyone has any idea please let me know.

First guess would be Adventure Island

Sounds like "Dino City" on the SNES.

It sounds like some of the Adventure Island games to me too, if you replace "surfing" with "skateboarding," though surfing could've been implemented in the later incarnations.

Actually, since you said the hero was blonde, the game could very well have been the original Wonder Boy, though that would've been either in arcades or on the Sega Master System (she could've played it on a Genesis with the Power Base Converter tho). Gameplay wise, Wonder Boy 1 is basically Adventure Island with some slightly different graphics.

Collecting eggs just brings to mind Jurassic Park, and I know that's not right.

I still say it's Dino City. You collected dino eggs in that game, and you could play as boy or girl who would ride around on a dinosaur (the girl was blonde). I'm not familiar enough with the game to know if there was a lava surfing stage in it or not though.

I've played all those games and the only one you ride a surfboard in is one of the adventure Island games. Maybe she is mistaken about the hair? It's funny because in the arcade version he has blonde hair, so maybe she is getting them mixed up?

We did find Dino City, and she doesn't think that was it. But there is a chance she is mistaken, it's been a long time. I'll have her play it and see if anything comes back.

I didn't even think of Adventure Island. But other than the blonde hair it would be a perfect description I agree. I'll check out Greendog as well. Thanks everyone.
