It is female SNES controller to male game port? I have no idea. I got it at a flea market, guy just threw it in with a SNES lot. Anyone have an idea what it is used for an some sort of value? I was thinking like $1

That looks like a MIDI port. If so, it would likely be plugged into the MIDI connector on a PC, as it is a male connector. Could be used with the Miracle Piano cart or some other sort of music program.
It's the exact same port as a PC "game port", you are correct.

It looks like an adapter for one of those joysticks that work with several systems.
I've bought and sold a few, the plugs look like that.

Actually, MIDI connectors are different - most PC gamecards and soundcards just double the connector to save space and use an adapter to connect to a real MIDI device. Not to say that it isn't for MIDI, but that's not primarily the MIDI port connector.
Actual MIDI port:

That might be for the adapter of a 3rd-party wireless controller. Quickshot made one like that for NES, where the receiver connected through gameport then the regular controller port.

first thing that came to mind is the front port on a famicom.

I think I used to have a controller that worked on Genesis and SNES that used adapters like that....

So, general consensus is, we don't really know what it is? LOL

It's a adapter to a joystick for both the SNES & the Genesis

Genesis controllers use 9 pins. The one in the OP is 15 pins.

The 15 pin end goes into the joystick. The other end is a regular SNES controller end. The OP suggested it was a female SNES connector, but I don't think that is the case.

Hmm, the pinout looks very close to the Capcom Fighter Power Stick, which has two cords for NES and SNES, but it doesn't appear to be an exact match. It definately looks like it's for some multi-platform control pad.

I think Neo Geo is similar looking too.

That is the same 15 pin connector as an old PC joystick. Old school soundcards also used an adapter on this connector for the MIDI.
Most likely it will let you use a SNES controller on a PC

Could it be homemade? I seem to recall some of the old 'snes to pc' methods (DOS, mainly) could be wired directly to a parallel port, no chips needed. DOS gave the direct access it needed, and stuff such as older zsnes versions could use it. Perhaps this is a gameport variant of what I'm thinking?
