Recently I stopped in at a yard sale to look around. There sitting in a box was a perfect condition copy of Exodus by Wisdom Tree. I picked it up for a quarter! It is in great condition with the original box, paperwork, and hard disks. I know Exodus is one of the more common Wisdom Tree games for the NES, but I cannot find any info or comparable on the internet for the PC version. I know I got a good deal for a quarter, but does anybody have an idea of rarity on the PC versions? I can upload a picture later tonight, but it pretty much looks the same as the NES version only it says FOR PLAY ON PC on the bottom. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Are you talking rare, or valuable ? Maybe it is rare, but if no one is going to pay you more than a quarter to take it off your hands, then no, you didn't get a good deal for a quarter.

I'd say it's valuable if you can get two people to get into a bidding war over it. But how likely is that? It's a PC game no one has ever heard of, and while console game collectors have heard of the console game, they're something of a different breed than PC game collectors.

There is rare PC games that are bad games, that also are "valuable". Case and point is Alice: Interactive Museum: http://www.mobygames.com/game/alice-interactive-museum where in November 2007 a copy of the game was sold on eBay for US $2,034.

That being said, the Sega Genesis version of Exodus (in which I own a sealed copy) is worth quite a lot more than the PC version, just because it's "unlicensed" status and it being on a console; however, I don't think there's enough information on how many copies were produced to define a value for the PC version.

Things like Alice and The Neverhood are very famous rare games. But there are thousands of rare PC games out there no one cares about at all.

... I'm pretty sure Wisdom Tree sold these at their website for several years.

Edit: In fact, they now offer a digital download version.

True enough!

Right, I'm not to worried about value. I think it looks good next to my boxed copy of the NES version mainly. I was just curious if anyone knew some more information about it. I myself don't even have the capability to play it so I know I wouldn't buy it for more than a quarter!

It's probably rare, but not that rare in the realm of PC games. Floppy publishing inspired tons of limited run stuff. Having 10000 sold of a video game would result in a rarity. Having 10000 sold of a PC game might have been reasonable sales record for a small title. Dev costs were low.

That being said, I had one, I hoped it was worth more. I probably got rid of it on eBay for less than $10. I was happy to get rid of it at all. If I recall, it took multiple relistings.

Awesome. If I could stomach random PC collecting, I'd totally fly that spaceship.
