Example:

Are you kidding, that's an awesome song, that's one of the best parts of the Rush series.

Ask for horrible music...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GflY6rsGTu8

Seriously, with all the instruments the Chinese could have used on the NES, WTF?!

I just came across this: Tagin' Dragon (NES) title screen

Of course, there's always the Winter Games (NES) speed skating intro "music":

I just heard that for the first time and literally laughed out loud at how horrible it is.

It's amazing to me that Nintendo, Konami, Capcom, Sunsoft, Tecmo, and a couple other developers could create such beautiful music on the NES, yet so many other developers could only muster up this putrid audio vomit.

... Yeah, I disagree with this one. I like the minimalist approach used here. It's very... I dunno, ambient, and simple. Sometimes it's not about what the music is, but what it's meant to be. Check out this version being played through an actual musical instrument:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFtHkyB7slY

I'm sure people will post music from Terminator 2 (NES) since everyone seems to hate the game's music, but I loved that soundtrack.

I can't really think of any truly bad music right now.

This is a tad unfair. The music sounds a lot like a C64 tune, so it's not... exactly "nice" to those of us who didn't grow up with the system. It's decent. :P

MORSE CODE SYMPHONY.

I agree. There are moments in that intro that don't sound like and Nes game at all and the game itself contains a pretty decent soundtrack.

To the member who posted The Hunt For Red October, I found a complete copy of that game over the summer for 2 bucks and I had to turn the volume down. I've hardly ever done that before. Could have been an interesting submarine schmup.

The only game I've ever actually muted is Rocky and Bullwinkle for the Nes, so that gets my vote. I also found the boss music in Bio Hazard Battle (Genesis) to be really out of place.

I agree about Rad Gravity's title screen music being well done, but that Terminator music is just wrong. I understand what the composer was trying to do, but it turned out poorly. By comparison, certain areas in Metroid and Ninja Gaiden capture minimalism perfectly.

I think it's quite fair as the Robocop game music has regressed instead of progressed. Plus, this isn't a freaking C64, and I've heard WAY better tunes come out of the C64 than Robocop 3.
The first Robocop for NES had good music.

Yeah, the composition is OK I guess but it's really misusing the MD sound chip. Probably made by a western composer, all I could find was "Sound Images".
It's not all bad though, I quite like the Stage 7 and Title music.

Super Fantasy Zone and Batman are much better examples of Sunsoft music on the MD.

Metroid's music was so simple but so awesome, especially in Kraid's lair. Simple bleeps, blips and bloops turned out to be a masterpiece.

I don't know if this is considered horrible music, but that "noise" at the beginning of a battle in Phantasy Star III is just awful. That "dan-un, dan-un, dan-un" sound will go on forever until you press a button to get the battle actually started. You can notice how the video uploader edited it to get to the actual battle music.

Wow that Sonic Spinball music is bullshit. It's from the Genesis collection for Xbox 360, the sound is TERRIBLY emulated. The original doesn't sound even close to that. I don't know why those officially licensed emulators never get the sound right.
