Hey I just ordered one of these and I was wondering weather this was wired specifically as a flight stick or if you could use it as a controller for all your games? If possible I really want to get another one for cheap and use them both while plaything BattleTech. :p

I've been meaning to get one of these for the Strike games, as well as other titles like BattleTech. I'd love to know if it's a good stick or not.

It's not a flight stick, it's a regular joystick. No analog controls, it's digital. So yeah, it should be fine with any game.

I've wanted one for a while now for Space Harrier, and Shadow Squadron. Looks like an official Sega brand.

I think I have one of these but I never used it, I should try to find it and try it out. I can't remember when I got it but it's been awhile.

Awesome.

I remember back when I was a kid I played Battletech all the time. The two player mode was kinda funky though and instead of piloting two different machines you both piloted the same machine with one controlling the legs and one controlling the turret. I though it would be pretty sweet controlling the mech with two joysticks instead of conventional D-pad method.

the stick is/was actually made by quickshot iirc, it might of been rebadged as an official product in america but I have the original one here, its ok but not great imo, id still rather use a controller.

I had one of these. It's pretty bad.

I had a 3rd party stick that was much better (it had micro-switches under the joystick).

Could this be the stick your talking about?

That looks good. Microswitches though? Really?

I think all arcade joysticks should come with suction cups on the bottom. I like that.

No, this was the one I had:

The SG Fighter A-Storm. The stick is micro-switches and there are 4 suction cups underneath.

That's a cool idea, I never would've thought of doing that, it seems like it might be fun. Though that game is hard as all hell regardless, still it should be interesting to play like that.

I'll keep an eye out on this one, looks sweet.

It was an interesting take on two player gameplay and was really fun once you got it down with someone but untill then it was a hectic mess. lol

WOW! That thing looks awesome. Anybody know where to find one? I checked ebay, and amazon to no avail.

I was unaware that there was such a thing as a microswitched Genesis controller. Too bad they never bothered with the technology in their standard arcade joysticks.

I found this on ebay. but be forewarned I am bidding on it too. :P

I recieved my genistick a little while ago and its ok nothing bad but nothing great either. I see it as more as an alternative to a controller then an outright replacement, though I picked up a new boxed copy so my experience may be different then others.

This line in particular I sounds like an awesome idea. I actually just went out and picked up a Genistick this morning at my local shop for $10 so I can test it out tonight!

This is an old thread but I figure I'll bump it anyways.

Yeah like other posters said the Genestick sucks, don't waste your time on it.

However I finally did find another SG-Fighter Joystick as the original one was sweet and worked great, I'll test out my Battletech idea later this week with it.

Can you imagine using this to play Atari 2600 games and the few Atari 7800 games that don't require both buttons? That would be awesome.

The Genestick is a rebadged and rewired Quickshot joystick like has already been said in this thread, but Radio Shack also rebadged the Quickshots too - and as far as I can tell the Radio Shack versions seem to be wired with a little switch on the bottom that lets you use it on Atari compatible systems, MSX computers, or Amstrad computers. I doubt you'd find too many MSX or Amstrads here in the US, but they're always nice to have around if you decide to get into collecting for them. Or know somebody who collects those machines.

I got one in a huge local Craigslist pickup, and the first thing I thought was it was backwards. Why does the Genesis label face the back when you use it?

I actually thought the two player mode was unique. It actually does mimic a real tank setup with a gunner and a driver. It was pretty awesome since it could get a sibling to contribute to the game more than taking hits like poor Tails the fox.

That being said, I do like the SNES version more because the shoulder buttons allow you to rotate the guns easily when you are playing alone.

I played it with a friend that way, and it was surprisingly very fun. We felt like we were cooperating a lot more than in, say, Double Dragon, since we had to be clear on what our plan of action was ("Walk in circles around that thing while I hit it with the minicannon!" "Gotcha!")

Mechwarrior 3050 on the SNES is the same game and IIRC it also has the 2P mode, for non-Genesis owners.
