The GBA only had two TV out cards, the Transverter (which is impossible to get) and the Converter, which is still around in limited availability. The Converter doesn't fill a tv screen as it doubles the pixels so more accurate than the Transverter, however uses less amperage to run; in fact, a GBA and GBA Converter runs less than 500mA together at 8v (7.4v is fine).

Here's how to bypass the ribbon connector from the GBA, which from my experience doesn't work well - took me hours to work it out!

Note, this is for the 40 pin GBA (by the ribbon cable it says "40" or "32" - 32 is the same but the contacts on the board look slightly different but still the same):

Result looks crisp on a screen.

He's a pinout I got elsewhere years ago for RGB:

You mean this?

I remember those being sold in Radio Shack or The Source, I can't remember when they switched the name of the store. A friend of mine bought one, I never saw it in action but he said it worked well. I'm just hoping to find a cheap Gamecube with Gameboy Player.

Yes, that's the one!

You can either get them PAL or NTSC but not both.

If anyone wants an NTSC one, there is one ebay seller at the moment:

So wait, do you have direct access to RGB? Suddenly visions of "consolized" GBAs are dancing in my head.

Yes, but the forced interlacing is a bit of a downer.

I can't get the RGB-out to work the way that it's shown in that picture: http://i53.tinypic.com/250pa2v.jpg

If I wire sync the way the diagram has it, my screen goes completely black. If I wire sync to the composite-out, it seems to work fine. Have you guys ever run into this?

Well this wiring with this board

= Fail

I dont know where I might have been wrong on this one.

The results however where

- GBA Screen showing no picture
- GBA Screen showing horizontal violet, black, blue lines

All of this while the Inverter did not output a picture.

I hope you can shed light on this so I can get this wired up properly (a table would also help)
