An anonymous reader writes with this snippet: "Electronic Arts has updated its Terms of Service Agreement for the Origin platform. Following Sony's steps, and taking it even further, EA has added a new clause that prevents users from suing them in both class action and jury trial forms."http://a.fsdn.com/sd/facebook_icon_large.png (http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fgames.slashdot.org%2Fsto ry%2F11%2F09%2F24%2F0113250%2FEAs-New-User-Agreement-Bans-Lawsuits%3Futm_source%3Dslashdot%26utm_medium%3Dfa cebook) http://a.fsdn.com/sd/twitter_icon_large.png (http://twitter.com/home?status=EA's+New+User+Agreement+Bans+Lawsuits% 3A+http%3A%2F%2Fbit.ly%2Fr1hvDn)

If I were to guess, such a clause would likely not prevent a lawsuit should one be filed against them. I think a court would laugh at them.

Lets hope the courts dont let this stand. Nothing good can come of it.

Yup, That makes me feel great about purchasing a game from them in the future.

Not like I was going to anyway.

Terms of Service Agreement for the Origin platform.

Even if it is true it's only for Origin, so this only applies if you use it.

Just another reason why I don't buy EA games.

No way in hell that would stand up in court. None.

Agreeing to handle cases outside of the court system is not an unusual thing. Unions and employers very often agree to go to arbitration, for instance, and the courts will usually not step in unless there is something grossly out of the ordinary. The courts love this kind of stuff because it alleviates the strain on their dockets.
