I was just curious if anyone knew anything about these. I was part of the xband beta for genesis and still have the cartridge. It's the same as the retail xband carts, but it has a clear case so you can see the pcb and guts. I would think no one really cares about it since it's useless now, but i'd imagine it's pretty rare.

Your take on it is pretty accurate. You probably sell it for $30-$40 if you're lucky. Just don't imagine it would have a whole lot of demand.

Hop on over to segaage and take some pics and share with the Sega community. Something unusual like that may fetch more, but who knows in this economy.

Do you have any other information about the beta? I'd guess you had to sign some sort of forms or something to get into the program?

We got a phone call one day, i was probably 9 years old. I'm not sure how we were selected, possibly something to with our EGM subscription. The annoying part was when I got the cart, it only worked with tone dialing (we had pulse at the time). took a week to get switched to tone. once i started playing the phone bills were ridiculous though.

Ooooo it looked very similar to the SNES version except its purple colored :)
