Sorry this is so long. He wanted $550 originally but that wasn't happening. I've been haggling with this guy since July and offered him $400. The problem isn't if it's a good deal. I only need a few (10-15 maybe a couple more). Most of these are for reselling/helping you guys fill collections.

I guess what I'm wondering is if you're mainly a reseller is this worth more than $400? I just want some input. I know a general rule of thumb is don't rely on making money on Genesis games LOL

This is the email

232 games, 4 systems (one box), batter up baseball bat control (with box), Genesis 32X with wires, 1 sega mouse controller, Game Genie, 7 controllers, 4 RF switches, 3 power packs, only ten doubles which are zombies ate my neighbors, nba jam, sonic 2, ToeJam & Earl in panic on funkotron, ToeJam & Earl, Aladdin, brett Hull hockey 95, nhl 95, madden 93, and la russa baseball 95. For whatever reason I’m missing a few titles below that are not listed and I must of gotten them mixed up while listing the games or forgot to hit the enter key to drop the title name down to its own line but regardless there are only 10 doubles in this collection. This is all used so games have wear and tear but everything works to the best of my knowledge.

Don't waste your time. Offer him a fair deal for the stuff you actually want.

If they're not all boxed, I wouldn't go for more $300. The problem with reselling it all is loose Genesis is pretty flat. You'd be sitting on a lot of stuff for a while.

I don’t think I would even touch this lot for reselling. With all the loose/sports games I see even getting it at a dollar or so a game ($200~$250) I think it would be hard to make money off of.

See that's what I was originally thinking. But I'm not looking to make alot of profit. If I can help people fill their collections and make my money back with keeping the few I want, that's the goal.

I planned on offering the commons on here and GameTZ for $1-2 apiece. It's more of a hobby that my wife is just starting to get into with me. Money isn't the #1 goal.

Thanks for your opinions guys, I really like reading what you guys think.

The problem with helping other collectors fill their collections is the games NEED cases and manual. They're Genesis games. I personally keep loose copies of the games I play frequently, but for my collection, they don't even count. Without boxes, I'd value the games @ about $1 each, and the sports... Well, I'd make him keep those. Cherry pick it, or leave it be is my advice.

What I’m saying is you’re more likely to make your money back or make a little profit (like $50 or so) at the $200~$300 range.

With what you are planning to give for the lot ($400) you’re more likely to be out a $100 or more if some games don’t sell. If what you need out of the lot is worth $100 to you then go for it, just saying I would not go into it thinking that I would get the full $400 back.

I actually never sent the email. I kept it in my drafts. That's why I brought it here!

I'll just stick to my guns at $300 like I had originally planned to. Genesis is my favorite to play and there are a bunch of fun games on here, but not enough for me to go out of my comfortable offer.

There will always be more, I just get giddy and need to be talked out of things sometimes. :help:

Short answer: no.

Long answer: Aw hell no.

Yeah there's plenty of fun games, but not a single high ticket item. Not even a medium range one. The only games worth really anything here are ToeJam & Earl and Zombies Ate My Neighbors. You'll be selling stuff as lots on Ebay just to get rid of the stuff and probably won't even break even.

Money wise it's probably worth what he's asking, but it would take a long time to get that much for it if you're selling everything individually.

Personally I bought a Sega Genesis lot of 216 games all loose ex-rentals with damaged labels or cartridge cases a few years ago for $300, I still have over 70 sports games left but I already broke even. It didn't come with systems or add-ons, it was just a bundle of games. I sold the games off locally on craigslist for $5 each, then lowered the price to $3 each for what couldn't sell at $5. Collectors won't want the loose games, but there are plenty of people who just want games to play. Someone just wanted to buy a loose NHL 95 for $5 so don't count out sports games entirely.

Sort out the regular games and sports games, average out $3 per non-sports games and round down to an even number. That's a fair amount to pay for everything, just to be on the safe side. There are several games in that lot worth buying(to personally keep), I wouldn't avoid the lot. The more I think about it, since there's 4 systems included you could actually bundle each system with 30-50 games and sell each bundle for $100(though you'd be missing one power supply which you need to get first). Locally I sell Genesis bundles with 20-24 games for $80-$100, in that sense that lot should be worth $400 as with a larger amount of games they'd sell even with everything loose.

Agreed. I'll buy some loose Genny games here and there for my collection but I'm not paying more than $1-2 in most cases.

As far as the bundle, I'd pass on it at his asking price and I honestly wouldn't pay more than $200 for all of it. I just see way too many sports titles in that bundle.

About 150 unique non sports/racing titles, 60 of which are boxed. He also has a boxed Hyperstone Heist he just found. I got him down to $380 but he seems pretty firm there.

A boxed Genesis, a boxed Batter Up! bat, I think I'm just going to get it and if I lose I lose. I still play games and collect a little so if nothing else, I'll have a bunch of fun.

Thanks guys, expect to see a big list of cheap games in a few weeks!
