We all knew it was going to happen eventually.

So, what's the short list of games that people would like to see available for digital download?

Do you want the rare/valuable (relatively speaking) stuff?

The Fatal Frame series?
Rez?
Shadow Hearts?
Shin Megami series?

Or do you want more common stuff that would be more convenient to have on your PS3 HDD vs. busting out the disc (or a physical PS2 in the event that you don't have a BC PS3)?

I'd imagine most PS3 owners don't have the BC now :|

All I want them to do is release Siren 2 on the PSN, it was already fully translated in EU, so it shouldn't be that hard for them to throw it up on the US PSN.

The deciding factor for me will be weather the same games will also receive an HD Collection Release.

If, for example, Ratchet and Clank PS2 games were released on this "new" service then I might consider picking them up if the price is good (meaning $10 or below). However if they also released an HD collection at say 40-50 bucks I would still probably go with the HD Collection only because I can have both the games look decent on my TV and get it on a disk instead of a download.

Outside of a few games though I am really not hugely interested in this.

If God Hand were up-scaled I would consider it.

If God Hand Had TROPHIES I would consider it.

If they added ANYTHING to god hand to make me want to buy it again I would consider it.

They did not.

Yeah...

If it's unclear, these releases are likely not getting any kind of special edition treatment. Much like the PSOne releases they will be budget, digital versions of existing software.

PS3 has some decent in-built visual filtering that can be applied to PS3 games, but that's about it. No trophies, no remastered graphics. Just the games.

why put effort into it when you can just upload some romz and people will pay crazzy money for em?

Did they fix the horrible controls? Guess not. :p

Why not make more desirable entries in your software back-catalog available to those not fortunate enough to have the means to play them at a reasonable/convenient price.

I mean, if these games are like $10-$15 what's the big deal if they only ever look as good as they did on the PS2?

What horrible controls?

I'd think HD or not, the PS3 would upscale the games to 1080p like it does on a bc console. PSX games get upscaled to 1080p when played on a slim, so I'd assume the same with PS2.

*edit*

Hopefully for Vita owners, that the Vita is also compatible with these PS2 releases.

If I had bet on this ever happening, I'd of lost.

I never thought they'd have the nerve to digitally rerelease Playstation 2 software without providing PS2 owners the same access to that emulator for original disc releases. And with the success of their HD remastering program, I thought that scuttled plans once and for all to impliment any sort of PS2 emulation on the platform beyond the existing Emotion Engine emulation on some SKU's of the console.

I can't really think of anything I'd be interested in off hand. I have so much of what I want for the PS2 already and can't think of much I'd be willing to rebuy digitally just for convenience's sake or love so much I'd buy it just to be able to upscale it on my HDTV.

I already own the Japanese copies, but the PS2 Taito Memories lineup would make for fine additions. I'm sure there's a decent number of classic gamers that would be interested. And they've had some success releasing untranslated Japanese content along the lines of this with their PSOne rereleases on PSN.

So those 4 games get my vote.

The controls were the best thing about the game. Beat it on hard on a kick me sign run and we'll talk.

but yeah, you're not Alexander.

I loved everything about that game (what little I could play) except the stupid controls.

Really. I wanted to love that game so so much but the controls ruined it for me. My kingdom for alternate controls...

Yep. <3

Actually you have to send them a factory pressed disc.

Bummer :-(

They will be upscaled to the degree that they are able to via the PS3's on-board hardware/software (if you're using the appropriate output cable).

Just like PSOne games available via the PSN Store.

But unlike some of the PS2 classic collections that have been re-released developers are not going in and up-rezing textures or customizing things specifically for PS3.

Again, just like the PSOne games on the store.

Like Frankie said. If you've ever seen an upscaled PS2 game on a BC PS3 then they'd probably look like that.

I some how doubt they will release any of the PS2 games I'd be interested in. But it's still a nice way for them to add more volume to PSN.

Hm, I may end up grabbing Odin Sphere and God Hand at some point. Those are two PS2 games I haven't added to my physical collection yet but have been meaning to play.

$9.99 isn't really too bad of a price really.

Yeah, I was really glad to see $10 as the initial/standard price for these, seems sensible considering most of the PSOne titles are $5.

If they are compatible with the Vita, and if THQ and EA release Smackdown: Here Comes the Pain and NCAA Football 2003 (or 2004, 0r 2005)....I'll buy a Vita day one.

Where did they quote a price? I didn't have any luck finding it (And didn't see it anywhere when the story first broke).

Did they announce any other new information when they stated a price?

Um, I don't think they did "quote" pricing, but if you look at the PSN store they're on sale now and all cost $10.

So, chances are that's the standard pricing (with discounts in the future when they go on sale and for PSN+ members).

Thanks

I didn't realize they were going to be made available so quickly (I apparantly missed that little bit of information). So I didn't even think to look.

Anyone buy one yet to test it out?

Atleast until we get ones with the Square Enix tax added on.

I think I read somewhere that Odin Sphere has instant load times and no slowdown at all. Since it's running off the hard drive, the improved load time makes sense; not sure about the slowdown though.
