View Full Version : GameCube Bongos - Only DK Games?

A few years back, I could have sworn I had read someplace that the DK Bongos were compatible with a few non Donkey Kong related games. I thought the game mentioned was either Mr. Driller or Dig Dug, but not positive on either of those. Quick, limited searches seem to suggest otherwise. Everything I keep pulling up says that bongos only work with Donkey Konga 1-3 and Jungle Beat.
Can anyone confirm if the bongos work for ANY other GameCube games?

Off the record, the Bongos actually work with every game. They just mimic certain button inputs. (X, Y and A) if I remember. Doesn't mean you can actually play the games. But as far as I know Donkey Konga 1 and 2 along with DK Jungle Beat are the only ones I know of.

Fun fact: Odama was originally going to be compatible with the bongos.
Odama was originally supposed to work with the bongos, but that featured was dropped.

Each bongo face has two sensors, so it's actually ABXY, with the microphone being R. If there are any games that only use the right half of the controller (excluding the C stick), or can be configured to do so, they will work. I sure don't know of any, though.

That's really interesteing.
One of these days I need to get a GC->USB adaptor so I can play around with them on MAME and such.

What a shame. I have four sets of DK Bongos and really only one game worth playing. Oh well, thanks for the confirmation everyone.

The bongo functionality for Odama was dropped? Wow I never knew that I have a copy of the game and the bongos I've just never played it.
