Never before have our hearts received news with such confusion: In a recent interview with IGN (http://movies.ign.com/articles/119/1198680p1.html), Toy Story writers Alec Sokolow and Joel Cohen hinted at their next project: A movie adaptation of Zynga's Farmville (http://www.joystiq.com/game/farmville) franchise. "We're in conversations with Zynga to do something with one of their brands," they teased. "Can't really say too much on that front yet, but 'Old MacDonald' didn't have a factory, if you get our drift." We do not get your drift. Your drift makes us sad.

We trust the two to craft a compelling story, but we worry there's not enough rich source material for them to base it on. All we know is we're not looking forward to receiving a hundred daily invitations to go to the movie from our distant, distant cousins and fourth grade math teachers.http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif (http://www.joystiq.com)Oh god, they're probably making a Farmville movie (http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/08/oh-god-theyre-probably-making-a-farmville-movie/) originally appeared on Joystiq (http://www.joystiq.com) on Sat, 08 Oct 2011 03:00:00 EST. Can't be any worse than Bloodrayne, Super Mario Bros, Double Dragon, Street Fighter, Alone In The Dark or anything else Uwe Boll "made".

Agreed. If Van Damme couldn't save the SFII movie, there's no way Buzz Lightyear can save Farmville.
No fucking way.

Seems appropriate, seeing as who's writing the script...

If the movie comes out, there will be massive droves of people watching it and it will be praise and break box office records @_@ Brilliant! :deadhorse:

Hm, maybe it will be kind of like Harvest Moon. That would be a pretty easy way to add a plot to it.

Maybe they will learn from the mistakes of the past and just make it animated like half of these game movies should be? Probably not.

As long as it doesn't take the length of the movie for the corn crops to grow to fruition I'm in.

Anyone want to guess what the plot would be like? My guess is either something like Mr. Majestyk with Charles Bronson or in a completely different direction with a cop trying to expose a farm animal based prostitution ring. I don't think either would be good but I really wouldn't be surprised if that's how the movie turned out.

Not a bad idea.
GTA 4(according to Wikipedia) sold about 22 million till early this year, but according to Joystiq, Farmville had about 80million players till early 2010, which probably also was roughly when it peaked. According to the same article the CEO of Cynga got a Yacht for his Yacht in case the Yacht breaks down. :) 80 Million - that beats all the Sonic games combined, same for Zelda. WoW only had about 12 Million or so, and they want to make a film out of that too. :ass:

What's your real concern here? That they may actually make a movie that's better than the Game? That it blocks a cinema for Justin Bieber 2? C'mon, even though it's bullshit there could be worse, like a half hearded Final Fa... oh...

For every terrible videogame movie that gets made, lots don't. Off the top of my head, movies that have been announced but haven't gone anywhere: Halo, Crazy Taxi and Splinter Cell. I'm sure there are tonnes more.

How the hell are you going to inject plot into this?! What a waste of money that could all be given to me instead.

Don't forget Dead or Alive

If you compare the Dead or Alive movie to the actual games it made perfect sense. But if you compare the Dead or Alive movie to a good movie, well...

The #1 movie in America was called Ass.

And that's all it was, two hours of Ass.

It swept the Oscars that year.
