It seems like there's no post regarding newest games coming out for the system (MVS/AES) so I'll kick start a thread.
Recently NG DEV Team in Germany and NCI in France have released limited amount of games. NCI is bringing back prototypes SNK and its developers never published. OTOH, NG DEV Team and Neobitz are creating completely new games.
NCI -
Bang Bang Busters - (AES/MVS/NGCD)
Treasures of the Caribbeans - (AES/MVS/NGCD)
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Bang-Bang-Busters-Neo-Geo-Game-Aes/129060620484009
Neobitz -
Knight's Chance - (MVS/AES)

NG DEV Team -
Last Hope - (MVS/AES/Dreamcast/NGCD)
Fast Striker - (MVS/AES/Dreamcast)
Gunlord - (MVS/AES/Dreamcast)
Neo XYX - (MVS/AES/Dreamcast)
Razion - (MVS/AES)
Kraut Buster - (MVS/AES)

All titles are ported to AES, starting with Gunlord, which will use completely new cartridge shells, boards, and game cases

There're also some individuals creating consolized arcade units, on top of my head, we have

It's nice to see NG DEV has found a way to make new AES games without sac'ing carts. I think they've already said they will be supplying NCI with parts too. It's hard to believe it took until 2011 for something like that to happen. A lot of original games will finally be saved.
Sweet jesus these games are still ~$600 and they aren't even official. And they sell out at that price. I remember SNKP's final releases in 03/04 approached a "mere" ~$400.

The OP might want to consider disabling smileys in his posts...
I was honestly thinking of getting an AES cartridge system since I'm starting to get into Fatal Fury and SNK fighters in general. This might just give me another motivation to do so.

I don't recommend AES system, period, at this point, games are insanely expensive (it's only getting worse). That's why I posted a link for consolized MVS. It's not the only source to get such, but it's my favorite, Chris is planning to introduce new products and I hope it's even better than Walnut CMVS.
Another place selling CMVS:

but check around eBay for other bare/generic units.

cool system but its not my cup of tea, I like to play more than 4 puzzle games, 20 fighters, and 12 shooters. Really cool they are releasing these prototype games.

That, and the AES version of Samurai Spirits Zero Special was edited due to some slashing that took place prior to its release.
But damn do those cartridges look nice and it would be awesome to have a literally million-dollar collection. Currently my stance is "if I find AES games in the wild, I'll get into the system. Otherwise I'll just play the games thru ports."

I was the same way. Finally found an AES at a retro game shop. I had to get it, just because I could now and, I couldn't buy the only other ones I saw for sale in person back in 1990.
I like the CMVS units that reflect the AES look. They'd look great playing tandem side-by-side. I'd pass on the Woody though...

You know you can play the unedited SSVS using a unibios, as long as your copy is not one that got sent back to SNK to get fixed.

Heh, I called it "classy" with a slight bit of facetiousness. It does look nice, but I find the concept of an real wood system hilarious. :) Although when I showed it to my fiance, now he's steadfast on making a wooden case for his Neo Geo his next project, haha. Our Neo Geo is already consolized, though. Considering how expensive it is to buy a consolized MVS, I'm surprised that there aren't more people doing it themselves. It really is quite easy, so it just comes down to if you think it's worth spending hundreds more just to have a super slick case (not that ours looks horrible; a two-slot already has metal casing and controller ports, so you can get the power supply inside of that and drill some holes for buttons, switches, jacks, etc., leaving you with a system that looks relatively like a home console). It's too bad that my fiance's mini-FAQ on MVS consolizing died with Geocities.

They're not easy to get hold of, I tried to contact them just to confirm my MVS order. If you really want to get this game, they plan to release NGCD version, again, this is planned, not confirmed. Send email to: contact@bang2busters.com
My concern is that at this point, they still sac other games for all their releases, including MVS carts, something I really frown upon. Hopefully this will change soon with NGDEV making cart shells, boards, and snap-lock boxes.

Not to nitpick but does anyone know what the idea behind the Dragon Box is? I like the different boxart on the Dragon Box and the sound of the posters but have no interest in paying for copies of the exact same game. Is this just for people who want to say they have every version of Gunlord?

Speaking of, my question is, how is this not Super Turrican 2 for the SNES? It actually looks like they peeled the game engine from that very game. The enemies look the same, the physics looks the same, the 360 degree laser, and the rolling dodge all look the same. The only thing that looks different is the level design. Am I out of my mind, or did they borrow the game engine from this game?

The game clearly was designed to basically be as much like Turrican as possible without actually using copyrighted content, yeah... but the 16-bit Turrican games are some of the best run & gun games ever, so why's that so bad?
And no, it's not literally using Turrican music and graphics, just new stuff that looks and sounds very, very similar. For instance, this music is good, but it's just not at Chris Huelsbeck's level of greatness. Graphically it's closer (it does have better hardware than the SNES or Genesis, to have more and more detailed sprites, after all), but no, it's not literally Turrican sprites. Does it pretty much copy the gameplay, though, based on that video? Clearly yes.
I do see one new thing, though -- I'm pretty sure that you can't jump in ball form in any of the Turrican games, but you can in Gunlord. Also, there's no sign of a grappling hook like Super Turrican 2 or a whip-grapple thing like Mega Turrican. Though of course, the other Turrican games don't have such a thing either... they do have a beam attack (Turrican 1 and 2) or freeze ray (both Super Turricans) though. GunLord seems to have a Turrican 1 or 2 style beam attack.
Oh, as for the normal weapons, they all look like modified versions of Turrican weapons, so far, but several haven't been revealed yet.

I'm only surprised by the low numbers of productions, AES should be at least 200, MVS 100. I guess for small companies like NGDEV, they need to recoup the cost quickly and can't afford to sit around stocks of games.

I'm only surprised by the low numbers of productions, AES should be at least 200, MVS 100. I guess for small companies like NGDEV, they need to recoup the cost quickly and can't afford to sit around stocks of games.
I can't wait to pre-order Last Hope: Pink Bullets for the AES.
Is Fast Strikers any good?

Mixed feedback, LHPB requires memorizing the paths and patterns else there's no way to get around.
Fast Strikers requires fast response, much like Tiger Heli, I ended up spending more time with Fast Strikers since it's plug and play without too much thought.

No, last batch of 500 copies (Last Hope) took forever to sell and they don't want that again, Dreamcast version is by far their best seller of all games.

Too bad :( I heard about them only recently :( Maybe I'll go the DC route then.

Are you sure that Golden Shop isn't just peddling bootleg games?
Treasure of the Caribbean is a hacked game and not official so in essence it is also a bootleg unlike Bang Bang Busters which was licensed by Visco. NCI took the 10% complete ToC proto and programmed the rest.

Hey, if a guy was gonna start collecting Neo-Geo games, what advice would you give him before he gets started?
So far, what I've got is:
1. Unless you really wanna play the Samurai Spirits RPG, avoid the CD-Rom console.
2. MVS carts are usually cheaper than AES carts so if you're not very serious, go for the former.
Anything else?
Also, do MVS carts usually come with packaging or documentation, or is it always just flyers and overlays?

MVS carts can come loose or complete as kits my collection is mostly mixed.

What I meant is, do MVS carts ever come with actual manuals, with like story outlines and character bios etc., or just stuff to decorate the arcade cabinet with?
If its the latter, then that would make it easier to collect MVS games since I have no reason to get them complete.

As kits no it just comes with the dipsheet, move sticker and marquee that's all.
Most offen mvs carts cheaper loose then as a kit.

I thought those were made out of plastic.
Plastic w/ fake woodgrain on some models.
But they did used to put TV's in wooden cases. Up until the 80's they were still doing that.

yeah I had a tv that was in a wood case actually two both lasted longer than newer tvs in plastic cases. Anyway very excited for these games and plan to go the dc route simply because its cheaper and I love the dc!

I know neo geo stuff are very valuable and this game looks good for what it is (very well made for a small release game), I just dont understand someone who would spend 429$ for a card game!!!! you have free games on ios better than this!
