Since the new Commodore 64 is a niche item, I'm not holding out too much hope for its lofty price tag to plummet to considerably more reasonable levels anytime soon. What say you, all wise retro computer gaming forum members?

It's a lot less for one now than it was a year ago. A lot less.

I'd like to see a price drop on the shell by itself, so I can build a more powerful system with it.
If I want a PC that looks like a C64, it may as well be 64-bit.

I'd like to see a price drop, too. Their website still has the high end one for $1,499, along with the same promise for "Commodore OS" that was on there last year.

You guys got a link to this?

I'm curious why someone wouldn't just buy the old C64 for $50?

Give it another 6 months to a year before a price drop comes about.

Wait, you mean they actually released this?

Those aren't actual pictures, those are computer renders. That's why I thought this was vaporware.

Search Youtube for c64x. There are several unboxing videos there.

I have a hard time justifying $349 for a case, regardless of how cool it is. The rest of the PC is a solid 'meh'.

Hmm, even though I agree that it's cool to have a more modern Commodore 64, I still love my original system. I would buy one of the price did drop though, and I mean drop quite a bit. All this nostalgia is making me want to pull out my C64 again as it's been boxed for a bit and I finally found my Stereo AV cable for it! Groovy times ahead.

What I'd really like to see is a laptop with a CD drive and floppy built in.

If they made those I'd buy C64,AppleII and a TI994a.
