OK, before we get any farther I need to explain why I write this way. I prefer writing in the scripted style mostly since, well, its easy for me to write that way. The sad part is although I have the way of speaking for reveiws...i have the voice of a drag queen on morphine. My voice sucks and I can admit that. I'd just rather write anyway since I guarantee my voice would make your face melt.

OK, Lets get to my thoughts on 2 recent Betas I was in. Let's start with The Old Republic since this game comes out first.

The Old Republic

First I gotta say the game looks...good? I state this cause the game kinda looks like the Clone Wars cartoon but some times does not. My Republic Trooper names HarryEvans (yeah I enjoy AU Harry Potter fanfics.) looked like an overweight Anakin Skywalker with a goatee. IF I took some screenshots I'd show you what I mean. The scenery varies where I started with ruined terrain and bases that are big and expansive.

The enemies do not vary much but this is the beginning so I expect more enemy variants when I advance farther into the game. The ones that are here include varying degrees of soldiers and defense droids. The one complaint I have in terms of enemies is sometimes it seems like there are too many at once.

The quests are decent but I wish it was easier to notice them on the map. Sometimes they show up on the map but not in visual sight. It's annoying but not enough to make me stop playing. I gotta say that what bioware did ring was the moral choice system, which to me is whats gonna keep people coming back for more. Every time I made a good choice or heard someones story I felt like I was tearing my heart up to not help.

Case in point. One quest involved me trying to recover medicine from seperatist soldiers, I could either give it to the troops (bad) or the refugees (good). Sounds weird that the good option is the refugees who originally stole the medicine, but these people are stuck in the middle of a war. And honestly seeing as how I can take about 30 plasma blasts I think were gold on medicine.

I did not play the sith empire so no clue on their quests but I do have to say this. If this is what Bioware is bringing to the table then I hope that when it launches on December 20th that its just as engaging as it was when I played.

Now onto a beta so underwhelming that it makes me wish I spent more time playing TOR over splitting my time with this piece of underwhelming trash...

Gotham City Imposters

I can sum this up in one sentence.

Team Fortress 2 meets Call of Duty. Thats all I can say. The game has some 'humor' but its so bad that it makes me pine for the dark days of 90's comics. The classes are pathetic. I can tell since I am a terrible call of duty player and I can rack up kills in this game like its no ones business, so I can tell its unbalanced. Hopefully this is fixed in the release next year.

The graphics are nice but feel dated, like playing the Wii port of call of duty. Also sometimes Its almost impossible to get a game going. I know its a beta but when I have to boot up the game 3 times just to get into a game there's problems, big problems.

The only people who will like this are the shooter crowd but that's unlikely. The humor is too terrible for the comic crowd and the fact that its a first person shooter set in the batman crowd means that even batman fans will be alienated.

With TF2 being free now most people should just pass this up. For those wanting to see a failed experiment Gotham City Imposters comes out in 2012.

Now I was gonna talk about the Battlefield 3 beta as well but it comes out soon so no point.

So until next time...bye (click)
