I was wondering if you could send PS2 game saves FROM the PS3 hard drive TO a PS2 memory card, using the SONY transfer cable dongle thingie. I've sent a number of my PS2 game saves to my PS3 system, but I don't know if you can send them back again to the memory card (I assume so, but I just wanted to be sure).

Since I use my PS3 for all of my PS2 gaming, I'm thinking of bringing my PS2 system to work and keeping it there, and just transferring my saves back and forth between the two systems.

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'd rather ask before I dig the damn adapter thing out from where ever it's buried, and hook it up, only to be disappointed. I mean, I assumed that you could send PS1 saves to the PS3 system using the adapter, but discovered that you couldn't. :|

IS there a way to transfer PS1 games to a PS3 system, BTW? I have the original 60Gig fat model.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, you can transfer back to the mem card.

I thought it worked on PS1 games, since I recall transferring a save there earlier this year after having played on my portable PSOne. :?

Yes, transfers for PS2 and PS1 memory card saves work both ways via the transfer dongle.

Upon the release of the PlayStation 3 system software version 1.80, the user is now able to transfer PS1 and PS2 game saves from the PS3 directly onto a physical Memory Card via the adaptor.

Hmm, that's really weird. IIRC, the thing didn't even recognize my PS1 memory card when it was in there. It's been a while and several firmware updates since I've used the adapter, I'll have to try it again.

Thanks again.

some third party memory cards aren't compatable on the ps3

I can second the info. provided already that the PS2 and Playstation saves work both ways with the transfer cable and adapter as I have it and have done it many times myself...

I've had PS1 and PS2 memory cards fail, or need their contacts cleaned. Might just need a cleaning.
