I'm sure most gamers are counting down and preparing their consoles and PC's for this great game, but the question is, will you manage your play time wisely?

Will you shun your kids, wives, parents, school, work and etc., just to play every second, minute and hour of this game?

I guess we'll find out :)

I will be managing my time wisely by playing MW2 waiting for MW3  :2gunfire: :rockets:

Despite being more console friendly and with a quicker pace, yes. It's still the smartest FPS out there.

I wont be getting it on PC though.

No doubt. BF3 might not outsell MW3 but it will take away a substantial chunk of market share. I mean I like Duty as much as the next guy, but Battlefield just blows it out of the water. Vehicles (which multiple players can tag-team on), destructible terrain, more team-based, huge maps. Points for actually playing the game rather than 1000 people concerned about their KD ratio?

No brainer to me.

Maybe I'm blasphemous, but I've always found the smaller scale of Modern Warfare to be far more fun than Battlefield. I played 1942, and it was revolutionary, and it did blow my mind, but I found Modern Warfare 2 to be a way better game than Bad Company 2. I tried really hard to get into BC2, buying the expansions and all, but it was just never as fun as MW2 for me. Infinity Ward has perfected the steady drip of new weapons, and I really enjoy killstreaks; in Bad Company 2 there was never enough new content to keep me playing.

Also, have you played the BF3 beta? It sucked, big time. I know they said that the main game would be different, but I find it hard to believe that it could be that much different, given that it is so close to release. The beta solidified my decision to get MW3 on launch. If that means I like a dumbed-down shooter more, than so be it. Modern Warfare has always been more fun for me, and that's really what matters when it comes down to it.

That being said, I'll probably pick up BF3 when it's on sale.

I'd say the same thing, although it'd be Skyward Sword first for me (Skyrim sometime later).

On BF3 vs. MW3...to each their own. I find the Battlefield series infinitely more fun, but if someone enjoys COD more, that's fine with me. What bugs me are people who extol the virtues of one while never playing the other. Completely idiotic IMO.

On topic, yes I will be putting major hours into BF3 just like every Battlefield game that comes out. These days I only get to play at night once my kids are asleep (and sometimes during naps). I can't wait though. That much is for sure.

MW3 just seems bland and been there done that sorta way. The beta was just a teaser and the final build will of course blow everyone away.

Should be fun!

I'm itching to play 2142, 1942 and BF2, when I get more stable connection, rather than BF3. Destructible environment is intriguing addition though. Heroes of Stalingrad is a lot more interesting FPS of the new ones. Why no-one seems to talk about it?

I don't think Bad Company 2 is a good example of the Battlefield games. It was okay but I'd never put it up against 1942 or 2. Also the Beta for BF3 was a 3+ month old build. They only put it out to stress test the network.

and for MW vs BF. They're comparable, but they're really not that similar. MW is more erratic and faster and kill-death-ratio based, BF is more tactical and KDR doesn't really matter. MW you spawn wherever and go, BF you have to actually think about when and where you spawn. A lot of things like that, they're two different experiences.

I'm just not really a Michael Bay fan I guess.

I'll probably actually be much more reserved in my playtime for Battlefield 3 then I ever was for Bad Company 2 or 1943. Thats mostly due to my pretty regular three buddie's schedules not being what they were a year ago.

I play COD when a few friends (or friend) are on and we want to compete, strategize, and talk shit to one another while taking each other down in private matches.

I play Battlefield when friends are on and we want to work together to take objectives, screw with the enemies mind, and generally cause havoc cooperatively.

The two games play very differently on what the emphasis on the individual player and I still don't see how some people can't see that.

I am curious to see how close the console game comes to looking like the 12 min trailer.

Right now, Arkham City has been getting a lot of play time, but Uncharted 3 will probably get the most playtime of any of my recent games. Once Yakuza Dead Souls comes out it'll probably get 100+ hours like Yakuza 3 and 4 did.

If it's not Call of Crap, it's nothing

Play a Real FPS like Doom 3, Quake, Unreal, Duke Nukem

I will download Daytona USA

Battlefield 3? Not after what I played of the demo. But Halo: CE Anniversary and MW3 will definitely be dominating my play time when they are released over the next 3 weeks. I'm still going to pick up BF3 eventually but it's going to be awhile unless I find a really good deal on it.

Not that I particularly enjoy defending EA but there was no "demo" for BF3, it was a beta. I wish more people knew the difference.

I had totally cleared out my gaming schedule and whittled my backlog down to nil for BF3. But after the disappointment of the beta, and now the delay of the review embargo until after the game releases... I canceled my preorder yesterday. Not getting burned on this one. If it comes out, is awesome, and the reviews are respectable, I'll just have to do without the preorder bonuses.

im not trying to single you out or anything but why the fuck is it that some people (pc gamers usually) go off on this superiority/god complex tangent whenever anyone mentions cod of playing battlefield or really any shooters on consoles?

and then always refer to those games you just mentioned, ie unreal tournament, doom 3, quake, what makes those fps games more "real" in your eyes?

you should rethink that, amazon has a 20 dollar bonus towards your next purchase as well as the 4 back to karkland map packs, even it it does dissappoint u can still get a new 20 dollar game to soften the blow or a significant chunk taken out of your next day 1 game purchase

This... and sell the game to Ebay "like new" the following week. Just don't use the Back to Karkland map codes and if you happen not to like it then you can mention that the codes are unused and included.

You'll more than likely get $40 back, and essentially that's how much you've paid if you purchase another game using the $20.

I have a PC that will run this game very well, but I'll still get if for the 360.

You do realize that Doom 3 was optimized for the original Xbox. The price of a PC to run that game at the same level of the Xbox in 2004 would probably have been twice as much.

It usually comes down to them all being "twitch" shooters which is where the Keyboard and Mouse really shines, surprised 1.6 or CSS wasn't mentioned in his post to be honest. Since this guy seems to be jumping in every thread saying how he hates war shooters it could also be because all of these games use the SPACE MARINE AWESOME DEATH KILLINTON vibe as well.

Controlling with a keyboard and mouse is pretty much always more effective once you get the controls properly down but for whatever reason I never have as much fun with a KB/M combo as I do with a controller. I also have a pretty good rig and I'll eventually pick up BF3 for it but initially I'm getting it for consoles where I can play with my friends. I'm hopping for eventual mapping and modding tools for the PC version eventually but I kinda have a vibe that its not going to happen this time.

Apparently the dev team for Huxley actually did research on pad vs keyboard and mouse. If I remember right basically using a pad is better for up close/quick fighting (where you use a shorter "throw" distance) and KB&M is better for long range/fine tuned fighting.

I'm not sure how true that is but it seems to be about my experience. Some FPSs just don't feel right on a pad (Bad Company 2 being a pretty big example) and some are actually quite comfortable (Halo, CoD, BF3 [based on the beta.])

It's always going to come down to a mix of how the game is designed and personal preference. I used to be exclusively PC with FPSs, not counting console exclusives, until about a year ago.

As for modded games, I'd look into that a bit more. I'm pretty sure EA is planning to ban Origin accounts that play on modded servers. I don't want to spread rumors though, so read up on that for yourself. I'll just say Origin in general is the main reason why I'm not getting this on PC.

Well, crap. I didn't even notice the $20 credit on Amazon. I still have my $20 from Gears I can apply to it. Preorder back on. *grumble*

I'm a huge FPS person. I was a huge CoD fan until MW2. Now I play it just for the single player story. BF though, smoked 3 keyboard and 1 mouse through my BF2 career. Since I no longer PC game, I'd better buy some extra X360 controllers. Don't be me wrong, I eventually will own MW3, but once it goes on sale or I get it on a good deal from Craigslist (yeah, right).

Otherwise, I'm looking forward to seeing how DICE does with a single player story since BF3 is the first in the Battlefield series to have a single player. Also, Syndicate looks pretty awesome.
