Pre-Ordered a long long time ago, getting the CE now. Can't wait to play it, but somehow i'm a little anxious, that it may not be as good as first expected. It doesn't look as good as it could, the interface also looks shit, and if you trust the previews it's also rather PC unfriendly in the PC version. I also find it somewhat worrying that they got rid of the old class system etc, i felt this was giving me great control and freedom over how my character develops and how i play it. For example i did a lot of alchemy, but never picked it as a main skill so that my character doesn't level to fast. I wonder how they will make up for that. I love what i've heard so far and i'm sure i will like it, but will it match oblivion or maybe even be as good as morrowind? Sadly i have to say i doubt it.
Anyone else with similar feelings?
Bad forum to admit that i'm developing a strong hatred against modern consoles? Well it's the publishers fault and i know it, but i still will be very cross.

I found oblivion to be unplayable on the PC due to the UI. I wouldn't expect skyrim to be any different.
After playing Fallout 3, I have the utmost respect for Todd Howard's team at Bethesda. Anything they make from here on out will be one of my most wanted games.
Having said all that, I will try my best to avoid this game for about 6 months, because I know there will probably be at least 2 major patches during that time frame. Once it's been patched a couple of times, then I'll start playing it.

Well at least it visually fitted in, this time we get something visually really generic, it also looks to modern. I like the fact that you can preview the items but that's about it so far. I put a picture at the bottom.

I also always told myself "i wait" but never really worked. Now that you say patch - i wonder what the DLC will look like, i half expect them to do another horse armor just for shits and giggles. xD
About respect:
They are just humans, therefore their heads are full of crap. I don't doubt that they could manage to mess it up real good. I'm seeing that with Anno right now. I'm not sure if you are familiar with it but some years ago they released 1404 and it's widely regarded the best Anno to this day, now they are about to ruin the series (and probably the budged for the next game) by forcing it into a half cooked, pretty lame sci-fi scenario and making it dumber. I just want to beat them up with something blunt and real heavy to be honest. My respect is hard earned and easily lost. Bethesda messed up to much, i'm true neutral so far though.

I have it pre-ordered from Amazon. It is supposed to be shipped with a "high quality" cloth map. I'm excited about that. Though, after the Dark Souls fiasco, I can't help but be a little nervous that the pre-order bonus will get messed up and lots of people won't get the map.
Either way, I'm super excited about the game in general. It is my most anticipated game in the last few years.

Personally i hope for hemp, but expect normal canvas, like the stuff you also can print pictures on.
Exactly that. Not hemp but foto-canvas... FOLDED! FFFFFFFUUUUUUUU! xD
€dit.
Damn - don't ask how this came to happen. just don't. >.<

I'm also curious what the map will be made of, as cloth is a very versatile word. Could be anything from human skin to carbon fiber.
But probably not.

But probably not.
Indeed, but still...
The map in the first World of Warcraft CE was also advertised as cloth if i remember that right, but it's basically just plastic, it feels like my raincoat. I guess most people imagine it to be made from something different if they write "cloth" on the box. Well, we will see.

You also get a $10 credit if you preorder from Amazon and if you get the CE guide with it you save an additional 5%

Major Spoilers!!!
Don't tempt me. 15 minutes, by morrowind standards that would be the whole main story line.
Nah i save it. Only 6/5 more days. But how come he already got it? My dealer doesn't even have it yet, and why didn't Bethesda pull that video?

Who knows? Perhaps he has friends in all the right places. I told a guy at Gamestop last week that I'd gladly come in and pay the day of release if he gave me a copy now :) . And I wasn't joking. No deal though. Anyway, I'm really salivating now. Can't wait to explore the world.

I have been waiting for this game for well... about 5 minutes after I beat Oblivion. Which was about 6 months after it came out. I made sure to do everything in that game before I beat it.
Yeah the map thing... whatever about that. Not excited at all about that, I wanted something more like the flask in Fallout new vegas, that was awesome.
I am really excited about the new leveling system, as the previous games were too ease to max my guy out, even though it took hours. My current oblivion file is lvl 53 with 100 in every stat and my primary skills are at 100, except for H Armor and Blade, they are at 110. My guy also has one level pending that I cannot advance to because my stats are perfect already. See, its this kinda crap I don't want to be having to deal with in Skyrim. I am hella excited about the new perk tree system, that sounds awesome.

Put several hours into Skyrim today and, so far, it's living up to the hype. The world really looks good especially the tundra area which is wide open and vast, the towns and surrounding environs feel alive and the first encounter with a dragon was way too cool. The melee portion of combat "feels" better for me than Oblivion did; I think they got it right this time. This game will really turn into a life-eater for people who can afford to put that kind of time into it. GOTY for me.
Oh, and a bit of advice, don't mess around with those tundra giants unless you are well equipped and have lots o' health.

Got my CE today, wasn't able to play it because i wanted it in English but only have the german version, which makes a DL from steam necessary. My dl speed often dropped to only 1/1000 of what my connection's max, so it took me 7 hours and now it's to late to really considering to start a RPG. Speed issues with steam aren't new, finally wrote a complaint though.
Notes to the CE:
Well, sadly i edited my previous comment instead of quoting it (dumbass i know) but i was right, the map really was foto-canvas, sadly they did fold it into the side pocket of the CD digi-pack, but a lot better then the one of Oblivion, but still only brown/white.
The dragon is hollow plastic, and even though very nicely painted, i would have loved to have it in the faux-stone stuff which is used for much of the sideshow stuff for example, but it looks nice on the shelf and surely is a keeper, even though it doesn't reach "that" level of brilliance. Especially the base for the dragon looks very "plastiky" the dragon itself is mostly fine.
The artbook is pretty awesome actually, it's some kind of false leather, soft to the touch, the logo on it just looks rad! The print is also quite nice. The DVD is just a little movie, which is quite nice, but it always seems to be the same.
Is it worth the cost? Probably not. Still i have to say i really like the artbook and the dragon is quite nice too as long i don't come to close. :)

I found something interesting on PCG:
Skyrim’s kind of a big deal. Seeing as you’ve probably heard it mentioned more than the word “the” in the past 24 hours, I doubt that comes as a Tamriel-sized surprise to you. That said, at this point, even my cold, jaded soul can’t help but say damn.
According to Steam’s tracker, Skyrim’s rocketed to 231,593 players (as of writing) during its first 24 hours. For reference, Modern Warfare 3′s currently in distant second at 78,161. That’s sort of, you know, insane. It’s probably also a record number of people concurrently falling to their knees, gazing up into the falling rain, and cursing a single interface designer’s name.
