ended up buying a boxed snes (not brand new sealed, just with the box) with all cables, 2 controllers, and 1 game for $50 shipping included. The system itself is a little dirty but nothing that can't be cleaned.

Did I overpay? I'm starting to think i made a spending error, and probably could have gotten a snes with a bunch of games for that much. oh well.

Maybe a little.

I've found around 50 bucks is what a used SNES with a few basics goes for on ebay and in classic gaming shops. You might have gotten cheaper going with a flea market or keeping your eye out on ebay but with a complete box I think you did ok.

Yeah they've been hovering around that price for a while. I've been on the lookout for one locally at flea markets and thrifts for a while but haven't seen anything. I guess with the box it is probably ok

you did fine assuming the box is in good condition and includes the styro/manuals

btw, next time this should be posted in the what's it worth subforum.

Nah, you did great! I sell the unstained SNES consoles with no cords or games or none of it for $25 all day long.

The original power cords sells for $15 plus...

So that $40, plus a game, 2 controllers, Rf cables...
And the box :)

I think it's a fine price for a complete boxed unit, especially if it's not yellowed.

It all depends on what came with it, if it was some crummy sports game then you got royally screwed.

That's a completely reasonable price I'd say.
Assuming the controllers are genuine and first party I think 50 is completely reasonable. I'm guessing the game wasn't actually anything valuable though...

it's a reasonable price.

The price is relative to your ability to spend. This hobby has people spend varied amounts for items of various worth. IMO, decent price.

It's a good pre-holidays ebay price, and a great ebay price during the holidays when the basic unit plus cords goes for $40+. It was an opportune time to get it unless you're patient enough to wait until next spring.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. :)
